How about merging the civ3MP forum though?with the PBEM one perhaps.
There's really hardly any traffic....

So actual nothing important happened CTP2 wasn't moved to the top where it belongs to.

Good idea actually.
That and moving the Civ3-Conquests forum just below the Civ3 general would make things better organized

I don't like the move to the top. Again other scrolling habits, not much help. Also, I recommend to wait with the merge of Civ3-MP and Civ3-PBEM until after the Conquests release. May be it turns out that online MP actually works this time and the MP forum will see some activity except the inevitable "Is anybody out there" post every other week.

Forums ought to sorted by usage for maximum efficiency. Then again, who else here goes straight to forumid=147?

If you look at the Civ III MP civ group, they are at 120 vs 122 for the Civ II MP civ group. So Civ II wins that one.
You are correct when it comes to PBEM... 139 for Civ III vs 53 for Civ II.
But when you think about how old Civ II is, those are still remarkable numbers and makes a statement about how solid Civ II still is. While Civ III maybe ok for PBEM, it is really not a good Live MP game.

What makes it so different? (never played civ2MP and hardly any civ3 MP)
True about civ2 lasting a long time though

I haven't been overly impressed with the reliability of Civ3 MP. It's not the game I don't like, its the coordination and MP issues.

Civ III has many nice new features and better graphics.
However, the science system with it's research cap stink... and the trade system is worthless. The combat system was a step backwards... I could go on.
Civ II MP is far more playable live, and is also more interesting

Hmmm, the research cap can be easily modded out (just set min research to 1 turn and max to 999), but how is the trade system worthless? I find the 20-turn deals better than having one caravan delivered being enough for a game long trade. The combat system of Civ3 sucks, though, although the Civ2 system is also not without flaws.
Nice mod powered threadjack, btw

To make life simpler for most of the people here, then you could put the OT on top, and relegate all of the real forums to subsections of the OT behemoth.
I agree that Civ 3 should be at the top of the list (well, at least until Civ 4 comes out), as this was the merger of the Greek Civ site and the Ultimate Civ site, not the Ultimate RoN site and the Greek AC site. Civ 3 is 'poly's biggest draw and the majority of (on-topic) posts will be made in the Civ 3 forums.

Agreed. Civ II does have legs. I doubt very much that 3 will hold on as well if and when 4 comes along. That is if 4 is to 3 as II was to the original.
Of course, C3C looks good, so we'll see.

maybe because the real civ 3 mp community has it's own website, the ladder? http://www.myleague.com/civ3players/

Give me 20 howitzers and I'll give you the world (and on deity). Yeah right it's better....
I do agree that thanks to scenario creation Civ2 has longer-lasting potential. But other than that the regular game is nowhere near comparable in strategic depth, challange, and replay value to Civ3.
Hopefully Civ4 will not only have a good regular game but all the scenario features that Civ2 players want (and add some of the stuff that was in SMAC). Only then will the Civ/SMAC community be one...
