The courage of many people will falter because of the fearful fate they see coming upon the earth, because the stability of the very heavens will be broken up. What the hell?

Though Apple's phone-support staff is friendly and relatively knowledgeable, toll-free phone support is available for only the first 90 days after purchasing a Power Mac G5--unless, that is, you sign up for the $249, three-year AppleCare warranty.
|
You pay an arm and a leg and you get ninety days of free support?
Falcon Northwest and Alienware both received higher than 8.7, btw.

Monolith: What do you seriously think of the looks of it?
Also, on a random note, when will Apple join the 1990s and equip more than a single-button mouse with a $3000 computer?

Well, I haven't seen it in person, but I think it looks decent. Not as cool as I had hoped, but very respectable.
If I'm going to spend 3,000 bucks on a computer, I'm not going to quibble over a $20 mouse...

It's huge in person too, bigger than the case I just bought. I still think it looks like something from a 1950s movie on the "Home of the Future".
And isn't the point that if you spend $3,000 bucks on a computer it shouldn't come with a $2 mouse that was obsolete in 1990?

The point is that a mouse is so insignificant that its not worth arguing over.

I think the point is actually how much Apple emphasizes style over functionality.

Tradition.
You've been able to use two buttons for years and years and years now. Seriously!

As an mac user, the one button mouse looks great, works fine, but a two button mouse with scroll wheel is definatly superior. why have we stuck with it? only jobs knows.
A single button trackpad is fine, since the control key is handy enough not to be a problem, but on a desktop computer with a keyboard, give us a two buttom mouse.

One button mouses don't "work fine". They are excrutiating to use. Plus I find myself stroking the button, trying to use the scroll wheel

i think that is the one major weakness of the single button design a lack of a scroll whell, of course i'm addicted to them so any mouse that doesn't have them today i think is a bad design. at least the new one button mice are not round(what were they smoking?)

Plus the second mouse button is a LOT easier than having to hold the button down. Plus the things just feel funny.

lol, ever tried the hockey puck mouse? that felt really odd, kinda weird too, like trying to erase the mousepad with the mouse(felt like a really big round eraser).
still i wish apple would make multi-button mice standard on the platform, but i doubt if they ever will.

Apple's mice can't even come close to competing with the MS Intellimouse Explorer 4.0.
5 buttons, vertical scrollwheel and horiztonal scroll (tilt), stylish, and VERY comfortable.
Even comes in a black leather variation.

I prefer logitech mice, but that's just my preference. I haven't used a microsoft mouse since well before optical mice came into fashion, even before scroll wheels so i'm not up to how well they are now, but the logitech mice are nice as well.

god, that's ugly. give me the intellimouse optical any day.
now if the intellimouse optical had tilt, it'd be nice, but not if they made it as ugly as the one above.

Microsoft mouses kick Apple mouse ass.
That one-button thing was designed in the pits of Hell itself.

This is a PowerMac G5 thread that has turned into mouse thread. How quiet can things get around here?
