msn messenger
Markos or other admins, could we get a section added on the members info page to put our msn messenger details. The email is use for poly is differne tto my msn one so would be handy for me to add that info.
We have sections for all the other most polular chat programs such as icq and yahoo and aim
Thanks guys

we should remove the AIM one. AOL sucks, and by extension, any AOL-owned or branded product does as well.
and now they're making Netscape suck too.

Yeah, but a lot of people use AIM (as ridiculous as that may be or sound).
However...Yahoo? VERY few people use that. Probably the weakest of the instant messengers.

MSN is good, especially with the "Plus!" extention.

I use MSN everyday - its the best free messenger programm that I've used, and nearly everyone that I need to contact is using it.
This is a REALLY GOOD suggestion.

Zepperoni: MSN Plus! does not contain any parasite. That will say, I know that if you install the optional sponsor programmes, you'll get something "extra" so to speak. But I have no parasites installed because I didn't install the sponsor part.

The original excuse behind not having it was MSN uses emails, and email bots would get the address and you'd get more spam.
The solution, of course, is people enter things like myemail AT mydomain.com or myemail@NOSPAM.hotmail.com or something. Bots get confused but people understand.

I absolutely hate how Microsoft has butchered the latest version of MSN Msgr (6). It looks even worse than the new XP color scheme (Luna?).

I love MSN 6.
If you want the original style go for Windows Messenger.

Mitch,
there's no need to diss AIM. On the same grounds I could diss the .NET Messenger Service. AIM at least uses something more witty than the MS equivalent - usernames. MS has bogged it down by using e-mail addresses.
Tass,
Y!M is just fine. I prefer it over AIM and MSN.
And I second the suggestion. However adding the support properly will just cause a yet another mess, based on my own experiences. There's two vB tweaks for it, out of which the more advanced one will require extra work and may cause problems. The other one is very basic.
I myself use 5 different IM services. 6 if IRC is counted too.

e-mail addresses are far more logical to me, personally. I can see if somebody who emailed me is online or not simply by the icon next to their email in Outlook, and I can find their MSN if I have their email.
Screennames are simply ridiculous these days.... xAsher1983v10x or somesuch.
BTW, new versions of MSN support a unique "Nickname".

I have installed MSN Messenger in my computer some time ago, but never used it. Today one of my friends (whom I didn't know he had MSN too) got online and we started talking. Hey, MSN is actually pretty good... I can't believe I'm saying this...
