New girl here, with some questions.
Hi all! I'm a long time Civ2 player (FW only) and I just found this forum. (looked through the graphics and scenarios - you guys sure are proffesionals here).
Anyway I was wondering if someone could help me with maps:
Firstly I'm looking for a big Indochina map (preferably with souther china along) for my Vietnam scvenario I've been wanting to do all along.
Secondly I'm in need of a USA map with Mexico and Panama for a 1940 what-if scenario about the South not losing the civil war.

Here are shots of all the Vietnam and USA maps that fit your criteria...
You should already have the top-left map, it's the map as used in the FW "New World" scenario (it should be in your civ2 directory, named namerica.mp.
I included the map at the bottom right because it was named Vietnam. Other than that, I don't see the resemblance.
If you want any of these maps, I'll post them in this thread.
And welcome to 'Poly indeed!

Thanx guys! Especially Mercator for the links.
Now I have both maps I needed.
I should start working on the scenarios real soon.

Thanks again.

How do you define "really big"?
I don't have any oversized/gigamaps or anything, but I do have some big ones.

Well, I really need a map that I can max out with cities and accurately represent the USA in the late 1940s, along with some Canadian and Mexican cities...
Possible?

My intentions are noble I assure you!
If there is one man who can be called 'map master', it is Mercator!

I think it's actually only one map that I have, but it comes in a few different versions with mostly minor changes to the terrain.
I think there are 4 versions. One of them has the St. Lawrence river navigable. Another has more forest etc. and is probably meant to represent the US in more distant history (pre 20th century anyway). As far as the rest is concerned, there's little difference...
Here's a picture.
And according to CivMapGen, there's place for nearly 400 cities. I believe CivMapGen is generally a bit optimistic, but there's plenty of space.

Well, the map used in Colonies 4 really is big, but it has some parts of Europe in it.

The one with more forest etc. can be found in my map database. It's the second from the top in the USA section (the zip is called Bdawn.zip). The one with the navigable St. Lawrence is the 4th from the bottom ( Usa1.zip)... I posted a link to my map database in my first post.
The "screenshot" I posted earlier was of one of the other 2 versions... If you want those versions as well, I'll post them later (I'm at the wrong computer at the moment).
AFAIK, the map maker is unknown, by the way.

Welcome
I would also suggest picking up MGE - there are a ton of scenarios out there to be played.
I also think there is a utility that will convert MGE scenaros to FW.
Other games come and go, but Civ2 is still the greatest game ever created. . .

Yup - PacGen and PG2 are still going strong after all these years. True classics. There are now 130 NEW campaigns for PG2.

I've played a lot of games, but there is something about Civ2 that keeps pulling me back.
Here is a game that incorporates so much.
That's why I'm doing graphics for Civ2 - trying to give something back to the game, and make it more enjoyable for others.
With the source code having been released for CTP2, here's hoping the same may be done for Civ2.
Cheers!
