$250 round trip, but that was right after 9/11.
This time my tickets are free since my friend's dad works for American Airlines and can get me free standby tickets.

Bristol is
(1)A long way for us Northerners to go.
(2)A sh*thole...
I opt for Birmingham or even Oxford...

...actually I think there is a National Express service between Oxford and Aberystwyth (odd as it sounds). It just takes an absolute eternity each way though.

Granted, but we will be in a pub so we won't have to see much of it

Down side of Birmingham is that no-one lives there so no-one can stay there, everyone has to go home.

What about the rest of us???
Oxford is OK
Bristol is NOT a sh*thole - the waterfront is very nice!
Actually, Brum is nice to visit as they've really spruced it up recently - all you need for an enjoyable day is a pair of earplugs and then you don't even have to listen to the natives' ghastly accent...

Birmingham's a ****ing arse to get to from York. The only method is the most unreliable train service in the country. It's easier to get to London.

Is the only reason we're even considering Birmingham because Bodds makes a big fuss and tries to suggest Birmingham for every meet?

And MOBIUS, I went to Bristol and everyone telling me how great the place is, and I'm sorry if you don't agree with me but it was awful. I can say, in all honesty, that my home city is a lot nicer...

Hmmm...London's a possibility. Easier to get to than Birmingham. And I'm so far in the East that anywhere west of London is a bit far.

I'll put you down as a maybe for London. Current totals. Maybe people could add to this?
London - DDDD
Oxford - DDD
Bristol - DMM

Put me down as a D for london, mustn't let Oxford win. It's more of a having the spare cash thing than anything else.
