PATCH 3 in final testing
from the official site
Quote:
|
We wanted to let you all know that Patch 3 for Rise of Nations, which will make several updates to multiplayer connectivity in addition to balance tweaks, new features, and bug fixes, is currently in final testing at Microsoft. This is the last major hurdle in the production of the patch, and a green light from Microsoft's testers will mean that it is ready to be released. We still can't give a firm release date for the patch at this point, but right now we are several steps closer to that day.
With the release of Patch 3, we will also be going live with our multiplayer ratings website. It will contain a listing of the top rated players, as well as other multiplayer related information such as the most popular map types.
We thank all Rise of Nations players for their patience as we work towards shipping this major update to the game.

would anyone who has the beta patch 3 be willing to share it with me? the link at BHG is dead since they appear to have stopped 'testing' it.
not being able to save multiplayer games is KILLING me as i'm getting a BSD every hour or so. about one in three games is totally wasted. i'm trying to troubleshoot the BSD but it's so intermittent that many a gaming hour has been ending in frustration.
i have the full retail version of the game, not a warez'd copy.
shoot me an email at s c h w e t t @ 4 3 1 . o r g if you can help. i can set up an ftp server for it.
thanks in advance to any kind souls.

Excuse my ignorance but - what exactly will the patch do, in particular for the single-player experience? Will the game finally have an inbuilt modswapper? Please direct me to the list of forthcoming changes.

Lol it owns RON...
If ya like actual strategy EDMW is much better. RON is about massing tons of units into spam groups and watching until one dies.....
Or better yet place rally point and produce units till own dies.

Empires DOMW sucks man...
RON is 10x the game... Empires is like what EE should have been, but isn't... it's weak.

Warcraft 3 is about micro, not unit spam. Empires DOMW is about micro as well (they jumped on the warcraft 3/aom bandwagon). RoN is about strategy. Play whatever you enjoy, but don't try to bash games you don't understand.

Maybe RON will be a bit better after the patch, particularly with being able to use mods seperately from the game; that is, a built-in modswapper.

Patch 3 has been given the green light by the Microsoft testing team and is being packaged for release. This includes a localization pass and the creation of a stand-alone version of the patch. This means that Patch 3 will be available for download in a matter of days

I hear "almost done" for a month now.
It better be ready by this weekend, or else.
Or else what. Exactly.
