OOBs I would like to have ....
Hi there, I was just interested if someone could provide some OOBs from the mid 1960ies - letīs say 1965 - from the following countries and nations: USSR, US of A, NATO (France, Italy, West Germany & Great Britain would be ok too ), Yugoslavia, (State of) Israel and the United Arab Republic.

I tried to get some info but I found not what I was looking for. Maybe someone could help me out?

Additional quest for the Uber-geeks: What about the distribuition of the US Troops in Europe?

T(h)anks in advance, steph!

Around 1966, 1968, the US had over 1,010,000 men, including 8,000 paratropers, in the army. There were 6 Air Assualt (helicopter) Regiments, 5 of which were in Vietnam. Not sure about the navy or air force though.

Did anyone say OOBs?

Given the level of abstraction Civ operates at, your best bet would be to try and dig up old copies of 'The Military Balance' and like publications. They list numbers and types of divisions as well as numbers and types of warships, air wings and the like. All major libraries seen to have a stack of them mouldering away in their basements, and they make for interesting reading.

The only countries I don't have detailed information on are Syria and the Warsaw Pact. Most of the rest should be covered in a fair bit of detail in the following sites:

NATO 1950-1980: www.tdg.nu/resources/TOE/OOBs/1946%2B/NATO.htm

Sweden 1960-1972: http://www.tdg.nu/resources/TOE/OOBs...SWE%201962.htm

Jordan 1967: http://www.orbat.com/site/history/hi.../army1967.html

Egypt 1967: http://www.orbat.com/site/history/hi.../army1967.html

Israel 1967: www.balagan.org.uk/war/arab-israeli/1967.htm

France 1970-1996: http://www.orbat.com/site/history/hi...my1970-96.html (I imagine that the French army of 1970 was very similar to that of 1965)

www.orbat.com has lots of other free stuff in it's historical section as well.

Vietnam War OOBs: www.gruntonline.com/TheWar/the_war.htm

US Strategic Air Comand 1966: http://www.orbat.com/site/history/hi...a/sac1966.html

I've attached a file containing all the active divisions and seperate Brigades in the US Army at about this time.

Shelby Stanton's book 'Vietnam Order of Battle' aparently has lots of detail on US forces in other theatres.
Attached Files:
File Type: zip us army 1966.zip (2.5 KB, 3 views)

Pfiouh! Good stuff, Case.

Here's a graph on US military distribution in 1963, found

here .

You might also read through chapters 26, 27 and 28 here , I remember information on US division totals from the fifties and sixties, force composition, reserve strength at given dates, etc...
