You have GOT to be kidding me
Urban Ranger is a MODERATOR of off-topic?
Why not make a new Mac forum and make me moderator?
April 1st isn't for another few months, Danny.

I guess to make up for that rah and MtG will be more thinly spread across the rest of the board.
Now you'll have to play nice, Asher

If this isn't a joke I'm going to ask for some kind of rule where UR can't moderate me, since we definitely have a history and he couldn't help but be very biased.

"The measure you use will be measured to you."
Postia ante deletia since you could just PM UR or Ming about these concerns.

This is the purpose of the Apolyton/Community forum, to discuss issues like this.
I'm not going to PM UR or Ming since they'd just say "talk to the owners, it's not my call!".
And there should be a thread for things like this anyway, I looked on the news post and there wasn't an attached thread, so voila.

Then perhaps you should contact them rather than posting for the +1 here.
I don't always agree with UR, but he is one of the few non-moderator deities.

I have problems with having moderators who have logical and analytical skills equivalent to swiss cheese on a hot day.

What goes around comes around?
Seriously though, I doubt he would've been chosen if there was a predisposition towards bias.
I imagine he's aware of this too.

Have you ever seen a computer thread where he posts.
Suddenly the fact that his Uncle switched to Linux is an indictator that Linux will be on all computers very shortly. Once people take issue with this, he doesn't return to the thread.
It's the same old stuff continually. Not to mention the political threads he posts in...
I cannot fathom the thought process behind selecting him as a moderator.

It really irks me to have someone like him in a position of power, period.
I don't want to have to deal with PMing Dan, the legalese he speaks in makes my head hurt.
Not to mention the response time will likely be high as he edits my original post with grammar fixes and [ ] when he replies.

Tons of people out there to choose from.

You're one poster out of — what? —*tens of thousands at 'Poly. I really don't think UR is going to pay you any special attention. But if you do mysteriously vanish, give my regards to the Invisible Man, willya?

If you really want to do something like that, I could start putting a boot up your ass every time you troll in the slightest, instead of looking the other way like I usually do.
I think UR is perfectly fine as a mod, so get used to it.

Actually, whether you can fathom the thought process isn't one of the criteria.

I believe that fathomability of thought process should be a criterion. I shall go on a hunger strike to protest.

I'll just add my tiny little voice to this:
Every time a mod has been chosen for the OT at Poly, the powers that be have managed too choose someone that has the respect of the entire community. Someone who has made his mark and done it in a way to gain more friends than (enemies).
Ming certainly fits that bill. rah does also. And MtG, well in my mind he is that bill
This is why I don't understand the choice of UR as OT mod. He has a history with several posters on Apolyton. He has repeatedly gotten himself caught up in flame wars. And most importantly he doesn't have the respect required throughout the community. No offence, UR, I have nothing against you personally, but I don't see you as a mod.
Now, please understand that I'm not enraged like Asher over this. I don't spend enough time in the OT to be that. But I will stick my neck out and say that this is a bad call. But i will also add that I hope that UR rises to the task, and makes a mock of my concerns.
I would like to suggest Imran or Locutus or Solver.
Asmodean

So... somebody disagrees with you, and you start the insults.
I'm sure he will be a lot more fair than you are showing yourself to be with your slams and attacks against him in this thread

EVERYBODY has made some enemies while posting at this site. It's obvious which camp you fall in when it comes to UR

Gee... all of us had made some enemies in the past before we became mods... I guess you are going to hold UR to different standards

It sure sounds like you have something against him personally
And since this isn't a democracy, it doesn't really matter if you don't understand the choice. This decision was made after much deliberation of the management here. They obviously disagree with your opinion.

You seem to have already pre judged him. Most wise people would wait and see what happens before deciding if it was a good call or not
Quote:

First... Locutus and Solver already are on the staff.
And as far as Imran goes... he has also had run in's with people on this site before... so why do you hold UR to different standards.
When I was first selected... people didn't think it would work... even set up hate sites against me.
When MtG was selected, there were some people that thought it was the worst possible choice, and he has proved them wrong.
I'm a firm believer of seeing what happens before I make a judgement... you should as well
Welcome to the team UR... we can use all the help we can get.
