Does Apolyton need a European moderator?
I think we need one. I suggest Spiffor. He is a reasonable fellow and French
What do you think? Who would be the most suitable to this job?

Apolyton already has European moderators.
Oh wait... you mean for the off-topic forum? I don't care, whatever.

No further mods needed. While Americanism has from time to time shown it's ugly face in the OT, and even a few times from the mods, it has every time been dealt with in a reasonable manner.
Plus!! one of the site owners is European. The couple of times that I have pointed out Americanism on Apolyton, he has been quick to rectify the situation

Yeah ok,
Why do I want another moderator? I dont just want another moderator, but a european moderator. Because we dont have one. It has both symbolic and practical meaning. The overall atmosphere in OT is too anglo-americain and we need to counter that. I have a feeling that many (continental)europeans feel a bit alienated from the OT and many just seem to fade away and stop being active exactly because of this.

:hmm:
What are the chances of your holding a poll making any difference whatsoever? I'll give this until new super-rah passes by on his way to save some schoolkids from a burning building to close it down.
A Euro mod would be nice, but it's not necessary, and people can easily tell miscreants that they're out of order. If offended, ignore the person. One of the mods will be along soon enough to mete out justice.

Naw, this is the place for discussions like this. I do laugh a bit when people complain about the American Bias here in the OT. Last time I checked, between the owners and all the OT mods, only two of us out of six, currently live in the US.

Do you enjoy seeing the helpless proles protesting about something that they cannot change?
You are right though. The reason that the Yurpeans are claiming all of the mods are American is that when they are all on the forums (ie, now) the mods are American. So why would we need more mods if we already have them at Euro time?

I don't visit the OT much, but I don't see why we should have a new mod only because he is European.

Yes part of the point is that often when I for example browse apolyton, the is the so-called spam hour of apolyton going, meaning that all/most of the moderaitors americaines are sleeping. This is of course sometimes most amusing time to hang out in the fori but I dont think new mod would have negative impact in that sence. So Panag thank you for pointing out the argument of timezone wiseness.

I'm desperate. I would settle to any european moderating us, even Anna Kournikova would be kinda ok *sigh*
Seriously, in no way I want to undermine Markos' dedication or superpower in this site, but he seems to have much more things to do than moderate at the same accuracy as for example Ming does. I just feel that were being ignored in this case

Regarding UR's timezone, I think that makes him an excellent mod, since I tend to post at that time.

Now that we have a mod for that time period, things might be in better order when Rah wakes up.

So if when the mods are asleep is the most fun time, why would you want a mod who would be awake then?
Besides, our being asleep (I don't usually go to sleep until maybe an hour or two before Ming and rah are likely awake, but I usually stop checking the site a few hours before I go to sleep) is a convenient excuse for us to let you get away with stuff. (or think you are, anyway)

Yeah, MTG, I also find it amusing. Whatever is done when we're not here isn't erased. It's still there for us to review and take appropriate action if needed.
But I do appreciate that there is a better chance a mod will be around in those late late night hours. A good selection.
