Conquests: Mesopotamia PBEM
Race for the 7 Wonders of the World
----------------------------------------------
Turn order, civs, emails
----------------------------------------------
1. Sirosis - Egyptians - sirosis@hotmail.com
2. Wittlich - Mycenaeans - wittlich (at) sbcglobal (dot) net
3. conmcb25 (ex-Feephi/bfg9000) - Babylonians - conmcb25NOSPAM@bluemarble.net
4. akulla - Medeans - kilianrog@aol.com
5. Rhothaerill (ex-benwa73) - Phoenicians - rhothaerill TA comcast TOD net
6. Beta - Sumerians - brucehynes57 (at) rogers (dot) com
7. SAMUEL2904 (ex-redstar1) - Hittites - ??????
------------------------------------------------
Conquests will be out tomorrow and I'd like to get a game going based on the Mesopotamia scenario. From the info it seems like 7 players will be needed .
I suggest that the civs be random so we won't have everyone trying to play the Hittites or the Sumerians. Since the addition of the Agricultural and Seafaring traits the older civs should play differently as well.
I guess all we need to do is decide on the difficulty. How does Monarch sound?
It is only 160 turns so it should go pretty quick. Post your email and thoughts if interested.

False alarm. Today I will have it. Another shameless bump. Is the Open PBEM thread still open?

I've had a chance to look at the scenario and I think it would be a great one to get our PBEM feet wet. It defaults with AP on which would make the game go pretty quick. It is only 160 turns long and we'll need 7 players if we don't want any AI.
Is there any interest?

Sure SirOsis, I'll "get my feet wet" with you.
Oh and yes, I already have Conquests.

Excellent. The Ancient Age plays quite differently with the new tech tree. Right now I am trying out the Dromon and Trebuchet in the Island of Bactar tutorial. The Dromon is a most nasty ship to have. It dominates the sea quite easily. I also like the first attack that archers get.
I guess when the Euros get it we'll have a larger response.
So far I am really enjoying Conquests. Not enough time to play though.

I finished the Mesopotamia conquest and it is a lot of fun. I played Phoenicia because I wanted to dominate the seas. I'm not sure how different the MP game is but if it is anything like the SP version it should be a lot of fun. I really love the ancient age and the units are quite good in this scenario. When the chariots start rolling toward your cities you know you're in for some action.
Wittlich,
You enjoying conquests? I know I am.
Any more takers for this PBEM?

Yes, actually I am too ... though I haven't tried out the Mesopotamia Conquest yet.
Well, we do need more than just the two of us. Hopefully there will be a few more who want to play it soon.

I'm playing right now as Egypt. I like Egypt's start position. It is strange not being able to irrigate right away.
I'll play this PBEM with you..

I think that the PBEM game will be different than the SP. It is a different scenario specifically designed for MP and accelerated production is on.
Not sure how different it will be. We'll see. There's 3 now. At this rate we'll be ready by the end of the month!

Ok. Now all we need is one more player and we'll be off! I plan on setting the order so that it will start with the west coast of the us and move east. So the tenative order is:
1. Sirosis
2. Wittlich
3. Feephi
4. akulla
5. benwa73
6. redstar1

I suppose we could if no one else wants to join but I would like it to be all human players. 7 players is a lot for a PBEM but since this conquest is only 160 turns it shouldn't last more than a year.
Once the game is released in Europe (tomorrow) we should be able to pick up another player easily.
I think with 7 human players this scenario will be highly engrossing. I love the Ancient age and with the new tech tree and player positions this game should be highly entertaining from the beginning.

We should also decide on a difficulty. I initially said Monarch but think Emperor might be better. Of course we could try Sid...

Depends on the level of player really.. I've played only a couple of games on Emperor but hey, I don't mind...
I also think we should hold off for another human player as I don't want to get conquered by the AI.... I mean how embarassing!

The difficulty wouldn't be as big of a difference as compared with SP since we'd all be starting without additional units or advantages that the AI would have.
The difficulty would only affect happiness, corruption and barbarian strength. Maybe research rate as well.
I usually play Monarch because the game is fun when I don't need to micromanage every detail.
So where is the last player? You know you want to get in on this game.

I concur. Since this is our first PBEM Conquests game, IMHO, I believe that we should stick with the setting on Monarch.

SirOsis, you are looking to get your butt spanked, aren't you?!? I haven't been so bold as to play on the Sid setting yet in my SP games!

I'm afraid to try Sid. I think the amount of enjoyment would be extremely low due to the micromanagement required to have a chance.

As I said before, I'm playing SP game of this scenario right now. I'm playing Egypt at Demigod and I am surprised at how easy it is to research. I'm only as far as 3000bc, but with science @ 90%, I can get a tech in 6 or 7 turns with 3 cities size 2 or 3. In the Epic game on Demigod, I expect to keep my Science at 10%. Science production must be accelerated for human player here.
