I agree with that! What I was refering to was the public debate he had with a mod. I think that it was good for the community to see it (even if difficult-as it surely must have been). I was just wondering weather or not Markos would handle it that way again or do it in a more private manner.

Out in the open is more fun.
In fact we should have a ban thread, where banned posters can whinge about their ban when they return.

Hmmmmmmmmm, NO.
Most likely those threads would turn into "temporary reinstated just to be banned again" threads.

Nope. The Personal message feature was still pretty new at the time, and I certainly wasn't aware of any such rule at the time of that debacle. I'd actually posted quites from my own PM's prior to that, with no censure at all. You'll note that others were surprised too.

Be that as it may. He publicized a PM he had received from MarkG, in which he was told to behave. Anybody would know that was not the proper thing to do

Who is El Moderato Grande of the Spanish forums? Does he speak/read Spanish? I imagine one could get away with a lot of mischief there if Ming, et al, had no idea what was being said there....

Feephi: Jaybe is mod of the Spanish forum, and yes, he is Spanish.
Bad days... I think ACOL is open for business though.

He didn't name anyone.
Here's a challenge.....

That might have come from a PM I received, possibly as long ago as three years. Then again, I might have just made it up. Ultimately only I know. What difference does it make to anyone else?
It'll be interesting to see if I get banned for that.

That's Jay Bee.
Why do people keep messing Jaybe, Jay Bee and JayBee up, I mean, it's not that hard, is it?
And as for the yin issue:
Someone posting a PM in public: bad idea.
A mod posting a PM in public: very bad idea.
A mod posting a PM from MarkG in public: very, very, very bad idea.
A mod posting a PM from MarkG about his behaviour as a mod: I don't think there are words to express the badness of that.

Yes, I can see it now.
Talking to a cute girl from Amnesty International.
AH, "You really must help me, I need a rimmer unbanned. Ming is evil, and he won't accomodate me and I asked this greek guy, but he wasn't any help.."
AH gets slapped silly.

Rimmer is a poster who was banned indefinately for the sole crime that he only ever posted when AH was restricted.
No proof as to whether or not Rimmer is or is not AH's DL has ever been put forward by either party.

Don't leave out the part about the IP matches... or that he ONLY posted during AH restictions in the past, or that his first few posts back were to defend AH...
But go ahead and ignore the facts... it's a better story that way
Yeah... AH is still beating one VERY DEAD horse

That's what I feel bad about - someone seems to have been permanently banned because Ming thought he was my DL.
Poor guy
He sent me PM's about it
He probably thinks everyone at Apolyton is bastard
