True Crime: Streets of L.A.

"True Crime" - it sounds like the name of some lurid pulp detective rag, and it's an appropriate title for Activision's new free-roaming action game that portrays a Los Angeles crimescape that's straight out of... well, Hollywood. One of TC's biggest hooks, and there are a few, is that it lets the player nigh-seamlessly roam a huge and meticulously rendered 3D Los Angeles; it's as detailed GTA: Vice City, but it's modeled on the real deal, down to admirably accurate street grids with recognizable neighborhoods and landmarks - so much so, in fact, that residents of the greater Los Angeles vortex will be instinctively able to find their way around.
