What do you do to add Austria in the game?? I was in the Editor thinking you can add them somewhere in there, but couldn't find where you do it.

In C3C the maximum 31 spots for civs (+1 barbarian civ) is full so you would have to replace a civ to make another.

Yes I realise that much, the question is how do you go about replacing a civ?
The zulus are the most likely candidate for replacement, given their isolation from everyone else.

I'd say Maria Theresa or Maximilian (I)
Austria's heydey was well before the 20th Century.

I don't see anything in the Help relating to changing civs. If someone could please give a detailed explanation on how to add Austria, I am sure it would be GREATLY appreciated.

Charles V (Hapsburg) is the sagacious leader of the Austrian Civilization.

The default .bix file for Conquests will ahve Austria disabled. There should be a .bix file there somewhere that has Austria added. Or you can make one yourself.
Open the editor and open your default .bix file (should be in the Conquests directory - can't tell you what it is called as the game is not in the country yet! ). Go up to the Scenario menu and click on Scenario properties. In a box labelled "Playable Civilizations" all of them should be highlighted except Austria. You can highlight any number of these you want that is not more than 31 as playable. Then once you have selected the ones you want in the game, goto Apply, exit the menu and save the file as a different name .bix. Then exit the editor and start a scenario. Select the .bix file you just saved, and it should play like a normal civ game with Austria in it.
At least, all of this was extrapolated from the PtW editor. I will post back with exact details (if they are any different) when I eventually get the game.

I thought of Charles V, but I've always associated him more with Spain in my mind than with Austria, though he was, in fact, heir to both thrones.

Well yes, that's true. I guess they put him with Austria because the Hapsburgs originated there.
Honestly. Intermarriage can sure mess things up a bit, can't it!
Ol' Charles sure had the rest of Europe scared for a while. After all, he had the Holy Roman Empire (including his own personal Austrian holdings), Spain, the Netherlands, the Kingdom of Naples (and Sicily), and I think a few other random places too.
France thought they were next on the hit list. Everyone took a sigh of relief when the Empire split up at his death.

Well I can't see a way to enable Austria the way Mr WhereItsAt suggested. What I did is this:
Open the Napolean scenario (where Austria is located) and open whatever file you want to add Austria to. (Your own scenario or the default bix.
Copy all the data and settings from one to the other. The tricky part is units and leaderheads. Pick the Civ you want to replace (I'd choose the Byzantians personally).
The Hussar is Austria unit, you can find the icon # in the Napolean scenario. Copy all the unit data from the Hussar to replace the special unit of the Civ you've chosen.
Now the tricky part. Most units upgrade to other units so you have to fix the change. For example a galley upgrades to a dromon (if your civ can use it) and a dromon upgrades to a caravel. If you change a dromon to a Hussar but don't chnage a galley to upgrade to a Caravel, you could have interesting results.
Now you have to insert a Hussar. Go to the Cavalry. It upgrades to a Sipahi. Change this to Hussar and make sure a Hussar upgrades to the Sipahi.
As for leaderheads you can simply cut and paste the files in the edit. I haven't tried this but I think you also have to physically copy the Austrian Leaderhead to a main civ folder.
I chose the Byzantines as they have a female leader. Then i changed the Austrian leader to Maria Theresa.
Hope this helps.
I'm sure others will know more.

I was able to get the leaderheads by editing the PediaIcons.txt file. Add the following lines:
#RACE_AUSTRIA
art\leaderheads\x2_Charles_V victory neutral.pcx
art\advisors\x2_Charles_V advisor.pcx
#HAPPY_RACE_AUSTRIA
art\leaderheads\x2_Charles_V victory happy lg.pcx
#SHAPP_RACE_AUSTRIA
art\leaderheads\x2_Charles_V victory happy sm.pcx
#LKISS_RACE_AUSTRIA
art\leaderheads\x2_Charles_V victory kiss lg.pcx
#SKISS_RACE_AUSTRIA
art\leaderheads\x2_Charles_V victory kiss sm.pcx
#ANGRY_RACE_AUSTRIA
art\leaderheads\x2_Charles_V victory angry sm.pcx
#ILOVE_RACE_AUSTRIA
art\leaderheads\x2_Charles_V victory heart sm.pcx
#LOVED_RACE_AUSTRIA
art\leaderheads\x2_Charles_V victory heart tiny.pcx
#LHURT_RACE_AUSTRIA
art\leaderheads\x2_Charles_V victory beatup lg.pcx
#HURTN_RACE_AUSTRIA
art\leaderheads\x2_Charles_V victory beatup sm.pcx
#ICON_RACE_AUSTRIA
art\civilopedia\icons\races\x2_Charles_V civpedia lg.pcx
art\civilopedia\icons\races\x2_Charles_V civpedia sm.pcx
This will allow you to have the Austria leaderhead icons. I also pretty much copied from the Napoleon scenario as well but the Hussar should be 7.3.3 and 80 shields for the normal game. It has been altered for that scenario.
You can check out some things I have done to get it to work in this thread.
