A view from my Kok Turks scenario...
Hy League pals !!!
After four months of research, work and patience, I've started the final making of this scenario !!!!
Hmmm... maybe I should have to say the "3.0 version" of this scenario ( that's right, it crashed two times !!! ).
First, the map, from west to east:
Iranic lands...

Zungary and Tarim...

... and, finally, Mongolian steppes and Northern China.

I made this map scanning a polar-projected northern emisphere, but I elonged it that way in order to perform an essential political development: Western Kok turks ( On Ok ) against Persians and Je-ta/Eftalites, Eastern Kok turks against the other Turks and Chinese empire ( not to mention a civil war between the two Kok turks kingdoms... eh eh eh ).
I'm "ear-opened" to your hints and tips...

A lot of these mountains are going to be wiped out, Hendrik; I want to replace them with another terrain in order to perform mountain pastures, especially around Central Mongolia ( from Tarbagataj to Altai mountain ridges )...

It's around 100 x 25 y dimensions, but I avoided the distance by giving to steppes' terrain a 2/3 movement point, and 1/3 to plains and prairie's terrain.

looking good so far, are those tundra and glacia terrains going to be changed into types of mountain?

The forest looks great as well.

Also just one little thing, the expression is "open eared", sorry just had to point that out. (but your English is better than my Italian )

To COckney

Yes, look at the pic... this is how tundra is going to be ( as I changed it into steppes ). This is Western Zungary - near the On Ok-West Kok Turks starting point...

The Glacier is going to be changed into High Mountain, and Jungle into "Yayla" terrain ( "Mountain pastures" in Turk language - sorry for mispelling it, I can't perform dieresis with my keyboard... and turk languages uses eight different vowels ), but they are not currently placed on the map...

PS Thanks for the tip; Italian Dictionaries often don't report english slang expressions...

Oh yeah, and German uses eight different vowels too: a, e, i, o, u, ä, ö, ü + we have an ß (a very sharp s-sound).

Hmmm...looks interesting. I'm in the middle of playing with Hartel's "Shaibani" (which gives new meaning to the words "mobile calvalry), but I'd be glad to try out whatever you want feedback on...

There is a reformed spelling going on right now, but nobody wants it. I for personal have once actually begun with writing in the really old spelling from ca. 1910, but I stopped doing that because I had no idea wether it was spelled "Tür" or "Thür".
The new spelling&grammar is going to degrade the ß, because it is, in many occasions going to be replaced by an ss (i.e. dass), which I think is terrible because I like the ß.

It would, of course, be easier for us all to speak Abkhazian, since that uses only two vowels

To Hendrik
Too much honor for my humble screenshot...

To Stefan
Just wait to listen if Caucasian auxiliary cavalry is going to speak Abkhazian, Stefan...
( PS speaking of short akphabets, better for all of us to speak Hawaian, then... vowels included, 18 letters only... for sure not turk ! I.e. "Türkleshtiremediklerimizdenmisiniz ?"...
"What a wonderful language; it says so much with so few words..." - Molière, "Le bourgeois gentilhomme" )

To Khanman
Yeah, "Shaibani" final release by Stefan gave me a couple of ideas about how to develope this weirdo to an end...

To PolarisGL
Do you remember your Jason unit ? I changed it a little, but your "*" will be still on... Thanks a lot!!!
PS When i'll have it finished, i'll post my Celtitaly strategy and solution to your forum...

It looks really good, Prometeus! The new terrain is very cool, but here's a few things you might consider changing:

1) The African-style Goody Hut is one of those things that most scenario designers forget to change. You should alter the graphic so it looks more "Central-Asian". If/when there's a remake of "End of the Bronze Age", I'll change it to something more like the Bronze Age Size 1 city.

2) Forest Pheasant: (Warning! - Personal Pet Peeve!) I hate that graphic because it's so totally out of proportion to all the other "specials". Why not some 4-legged beast of prey native to the area?

Thanks for the tips, Kull... I've already changed The Goody Hut look into a kazakh yurt; I think I'll change the Forest Pheasant into a Tragopan, a Mountain Chicken or something like that beasts.

the Caucasian Auxiliary Cavalry ( reserved to Persians and Western Turks, if owner of Tiflis town ).

Those units were scanned, right?
...and isn't it auxiliary?

BTW, in what time plays the scn? My knowledge of Kok Turks is quite limited.

Yes. I'm pretty scarce in design something... But only the first unit is scanned. The second one is a "melting pot" of two different images; one of them was taken by a modelism site, specialized in oriental warriors and knights... the second was handy-made.

The scenario is going to start around the year 540 AC, and to finish in 652 AC. I'm intentioned to perform in this scenario the first rise of Turkish qaghanats to Central Asia power.

A trouble...

This is the only terrain I've modified before today, the "Yayla-Mountain Pastures" terrain...

but now I've another kind of trouble...

what kind of background fits better for an "High Mountain" terrain look, a cloudy background or a stone background ? If you have a tip for me, thanks in advance,
Prometeus

PS Hendrik, may I have your permission to use your Persian style city look for this scen ?

Got a pic for Sasanian infantry ( a swordman ) - and one for the light cavalry ( used in Antigonos, a light mounted archer ). For the Shah, siege troops and archers I've a picture, too... But for that blasted "cataphracts" cavalry unit I've only a roman "graffiti" from Dura Europos and it's not enough because A) it's only a ruined and, even worse, B) partial image...
Thanks for any tip, Stefan.

No, these images are not from that movie... and only one is scanned...

The definive map look ( for now... )

Same image posted before, after a map and Terrain1 file adjustment ( take a look and make comparisons ). Kull, i get rid of your favourite beast, sorry...

The Balhas lake and Cu-Talas rivers look a lot different now, don't you think ?

Ok, it worked... "siore e siori", from top to low side, Forest, Plains, Steppes, Mountains, Hills, Yayla-Mountain Pastures, Mountains again and then High Mountains ( hmmm too much dark colour... damn ! ).
