US original Civ3 & Euro Conquests?
Hi, I've decided to get Conquests.
I live in Europe (Denmark), but I got the US version of the Original Civ3. So I'm not sure if I can buy the Euro version of Conquests? Will it work?
I saw Conquests at Amazon.co.uk: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...914453-7704622
Should I buy this?

Yes it will work to install the UK version of Conquests over the US version of Civ 3. We've tested that successfully.

ok...but..what about differences...
I guess the uk version will be functionning properly on a us Civ3 but... is there differences between the uk version and the us version. I don't want to wait a month for any patch coming after for example (the european version usually take more time to have their patches...).
And what about Amazon-fr... which version are they selling form 14/1, the french translated version or a french version in english language ? In this case, is it the same than the uk version ? the price is different.
Will it be possible to find the us version in stores in Europe ?
Thanks...

Hagbart: You only need to look at his custom title. He wouldn't get that unless he is for real.

You could with Civ and PTW, in these were here first (stores importing them on their own)
Not sure with this one though.

I have it on good authority that there is no difference between the english North American game and the english game on the ROTW CD.

There are only two versions of the game, the North American version(english only) and the "Rest of the World" version(which has english and all the euro languages), so there is no "UK" version, the UK will get the very same disk as all the other european nations. The only difference will be the box art/language, the UK box will be in english ofcourse. So even if you get the "french" or "german" version in Brussels you will get the same disk with all the languages, now the manual probably won't be in english unless you get the UK sold box, but the electronic pdf file in the english install will be on the disk.

Wil a US patch work on an english installed euro version ?
Don't feel like waiting a month everytime a patch is delivered to play MP (cuz most of the people playing MP are in North AM., which means having a new patch I don't have...)
thanks
Jeff

They are not making the same mistake they made with PTW. The same copy protection is used on both disks. So there will only be one english version of patches and they will work on all/both english installs, which are in fact identical, except that the NA english disk had room for some non-essential extra's like the PTW editor. Hope this helps.

Now, that's really good news... but one more silly question : are you telling me that the editor was not the same on both CDs (Us and Euro)?
I hope I do get the full editor with the euro version of Conquest.

Why don't you ask the UK stores to release it before the 21st then we can test it too?
( I can understand a slight delay in shipping making a 14th release impossible but do they REALLY have to wait till the next Friday just because we're all British and it's tradition? What did... say... Wednesday do to them? )

I don't think he had that custom title back when I asked the question. You are late.

Um... why? What did America ever do that we didn't ( apart from getting the game early and being able to buy/get the bonus CD )?
I mean what with the extra taxes and so on we always end up paying more for games in the UK. Surely it makes more sense for US ( that is 'us' emphasised not U.S. ) to get little bits added to our release. No?
Besides I thought they were all the same with Conquests? No?

The C3C editor is the same on both disks. I was refering to the old PTW editor.
