Oh the irony!
I just read on the French news website Lemonde, that French Secretary of Interior, Nicolas Sarkozy, and the French Secretary of Transportation, Gilles de Robien, were caught speeding.
Here is the irony: they were caught speeding on the same road where they had just the very same day presented a brand new automated radar system to track speeding, and had come from a conference on road safety and the dangers of speeding!

And they were speeding a lot too. The radar tracked them about 30 km/h faster than the speed limit.

Maybe that will be their defense.

Just like the French... reminds me of Inspector Clouseau. France's answer to James Bond.

Someting similar happened to Keiichi Tsuchiya (The drift king). He's a well known drift racer in japan who lost his drivers liscense while street racing in the mountains of Japan.
That event made him even more popular.

Probably more like, "Do you wanna keep your job, boy?"

French roads have speed limits?
This reminds me of a story that said a high proportion of car deaths in France involved crashing into trees. So the government's response was to chop the trees down to reduce tree related fatalities.

Poisson d'Avril!
1582 changeover from Julian calendar to Gregorian calendar - no more "is it hot enough for ya" Thermidore!
Of course, England didn't comply until 1752, so I wonder who are the bigger fools.
Unless of course you meant Avril Lavigne - well, modern music is dominated by pop culture, and pop is dominated by the under-30 top 40. I think Lewis Black said it best when he said he'd rather jam a pencil in his ear than be forced to listen to Britney Spears.

The phrase "jam a pencil" used in the same sentence as "Britney Spears" had so much potential.
