Fried chicken is not allowed under the Atkins Diet. All that batter is a definite no-no. Ooh, 11 grams of carbs for one chicken breast. That's half your allowed carbs for a day if you're induction, and it's only one chicken breast. Ooh, what a meal.
Yep, chegitz is giving the Atkins diet a try.

But there's a difference between complex carbs and simple carbs.
Simple carbs are the unhealthy carbs provided by junk foods such as fried potato chips, doughnuts, candy bars, and so forth.
Complex carbs are what you want -- from rice, pasta, crackers, breads, and so on.

In the Atkins diet there are two types of carbs, net carbs and the rest. Net carbs are the carbs your body turns into sugar, the rest are undigestable. Fiber, for example, is a carb, but you can't digest it so it's nutritionally meaningless.
As for net carbs, you're only allowed so many in a day, in order to get your body to switch from burning sugar to burning fat. During induction, you're allowed 20 net carbs a day. That lasts about two weeks, then you get to increase the amount of carbs you have. When you get to weight maintainance, you get to increase the amount again. During induction, no processed foods, like KFC fried chicken, are allowed.

I dunno, but I'm goin' to Winn-Dixie tonight to go shopping, where the steaks are buy one, get oe free (forget the exact type of steak). Sadly, I don't have much room left in my freezer. Happily, on the Atkins Diet, I can eat as much meat as I want.

here's the mitchell diet:
-Eat according to the food pyramid
-Get 8 or more hours of sleep every night
-Have regular meals, 3 times a day (extra snacks of fruits + veggies if you need a boost in between)
-Exercise regularly.
And I guarantee* it works!
*except for acts of God, acts of Congress, and acts of inaction where it's not working.

And after that you need to go on the cholesterol-reducing diet, whatever that is.

But according to Chegitz, breads, rice, and pasta have no nutritional value, so that the food pyramid is flawed.

Fried chicken is, without a doubt, one of the nastiest things I've ever had. Chickenfried steak runs a close second. I also hate blackeyed peas.
I'm such a poor excuse for a Southerner, although let's face it, Texas isn't really "the South"

Yes. You must work on these things, David. Go forth, and ponder.

Che didn't say that at all...Read people's posts!
According to the Atkins diet, carbs--complex or not--are bad in the sense that they increase blood sugar. It's also true that, gram for gram, such carbs have less nutritive value than, say, fruits and vegetables or protein.
The Atkins diet, however, doesn't allow for too many fruits or vegetables, since they also have carbohydrates. This isn't, IMO, a wise dietary move. But you could easily cut out all breads, cereals, grains, rice, etc. from your diet without any detrimental health effects. Their chief value is providing a very potent energy source, but it's a source that is replacable by other foods.

You're doing Atkins, che? Isn't Trostkyism enough of a cult for you without joining the Atkins Cult?

And I'll make sure to serve you up a nice turkey sandwich, slathered in Mayo
(note: I hate Mayo, for the record - give me spicy mustard all the way. I hate ketchup, too).
mrmitchell,
"The South" would be someplace like Georgia, or North Carolina, or Virginia, or someplace like that. Texas is a world apart from both the North and the South, and, for that matter, the East and West and MidWest and whatever else you can think of. There are all of those geographic areas, and then there's Texas

That's right. Republic of Texas is stand-alone.
Still, you're a blasphemer if you don't eat fried chicken, chicken fried steak, and black eye peas.
No doubt you turn up your nose at chili and Tex-Mex, too?
You're just a Sava in Texan clothing, aren't you?

Haven't you guys ever gone to a chain that's called "Waffle House"? (IIRC) KFC stinked, but visiting Waffle House was surreal.
