The Food Pyramid is very outdated, as it doesn't reflect modern nutritional knowledge. It was also heavily political and was unduly influence by the lobbies for America's large grain producers.
The FDA is actually responding to a lot of pressure from doctors to modify the pyramid, and it looks like a new one may be coming soon:

One glaring problem with the old pyramid is that it makes no distinction between multigrain breads and cereals and the crap made with bleached flour. White bread, pasta, etc. has no real nutritional value, is loaded with calories and not good for the heart. Stick with multigrains for your carbohydrates.

KFC is so greasy my brother has thrown up the last four times he has eaten there. So we don't eat it anymore.

I LOVE fried chicken, but not form KFC. Popeyes is far better, and a bit less greasy. Harolds Fried Chicken in Chicago..HMMMM GOOD!
Why don;t people just realize its how many calories you put in vs how many calories you use? I eat whatever I want..and if I haven't done enough exercise, well, I am well aware of the consequences to my weight..but folks, one's gotta live. I enjoying my life will cost me 6 years off the end of it..goodbye six years off the end!

Nope.
There aren't that many KFC's, I see more popeyes, and there are a lot of independent chicken joints in this city. the NYTimes had an article on the best fried chicken in New York in the summer...th winners were generally joints in Harlem, but there was one owned by a Russian guy in the upper west side..I went and tried it..it was good.

Fried chicken is, without a doubt, one of the nastiest things I've ever had.
|
No wonder I consider you such a loonie. NO sane person could consider fried chicken bad.
Thankfully I live in Atlanta. I'm not sure I could function without some true Southern barbeque and fried chicken .
