I need a map
I'm making a new scenario. I need a new map for it. The map should cover a part of russia that goes from smolensk to gorky and from velikye luki to kharkov, Ukraine, Belarus and some poland. The scenario is a ww2 one. Great detail in geographic features is needed. I'd be very thankfull is someone could help.

Hy, my fellow scenario maker... a strange request...
I don't think there's a map like you said on the net; but i asked for a similar map ( a Northern Italy section ) a few months ago, and thay give me a URL and a program, BMPMP12. I'll check archives...

Yes, I have that program, but if i make a map with it, detail in geographic features will be lost. I would be happy with a map not of civ2 format with all the geographic features from around 1940 so i could draw one myself.

Damn... found nothing...
I'll do the map, then - but it'll take me two or three days ( without mountains and hills, of course - I think you'll like to place them yourself, right? ).
See you, Prom
PS Have you considered the idea of an unusual point of view for this map i.e. a bit distorted ?

Thank you very much for your help. I just need to clarify some details. The most important for me is the geographic data i.e. terrain, roads, railroads, inudustry, mines, rivers, lakes, towns. Of course It would be great to have a map, so if you could do it...
Again, thanks for your attention

Sorry...
The map will not be finished before 24/12, dizepam, due to unespected last-minute works... Damn, I hate to work on Christmas' weeks!!!
Sorry again for this forced delay, Prometeus.
PS Barbarossa? You're lucky... I cracked PG3 codes and extracted a lot of pics from this game. I'll bump tha thread.
PPS I just got Steel Panthers... Time to install it ( not before 24, of course... ).

Hy dizepam, the map is ready... I've posted it to your e-mail address this morning.
In tha e-mail, i added a PG3 BMZ files editor. Have fun!!!!
PS I unpacked Steel Panthers yesterday: the game is so-so , but the history archive is a clusterbomb!!! - and it included a lot of russian tanks also ( T-10? Do you know how a 5 turret T-10 looked? ). If you nned them, just ask; actually i'm not using them...

I don't know any good websites (if you use a seach engine you can probably finds some OK ones), but I strongly recomend the book "Barbarossa" by Allan Clark.
Hope that helps

I have quite much information about German-Russian war 41-45 but not in electronic format. About what exactly are you interested?
I shall look for the map with roads etc about 1941.

I have a detailed map of Operation Barbarossa, though it is in German (easily understandable however), and short but informative information in form of articles from the chronicle of Germany which I can translate for you if you want. I also have some photos of the larger and more important WW2 tanks of the Germans plus sketches and photos of German and Soviet uniforms.
