Didn't realise there were so many games with beheadings but its not Ramparts.
This is a platform game where you had an inventory which could include "a magical flute, wrought of pure silver" and "boxing gloves" amongst other things. You could also collect pets and herbs to trade in at your local magic shop for power ups.

This isn't fair, it's near impossible for us that never goes 'game over' 'cause we're so damn good at computer games. How am I supposed to know what end scenes you loser gets!?

Platform eh.... Gods perhaps, but I can't remember anything about any beheading. I only played a few times at a friends house so this is a stab in the dark.

I remember "a magical flute, wrought of pure silver" and collecting pets, but it all scrambled in my brain of medieval type games.

Sadly i nearly always see the game over screen and in this game i never saw the victory screen
You play a character called Cornelius and your aim is to rescue your girlfriend from the bad guy Necrilius. It was published by Ocean and was the developers first published game.

I think it's correct, but I can't really remember the 'game over'-scene. Maybe I was buzzy banging my head against the table. Don't think I played the game that many times though. It was mostly the villians name that stuck. I was easily entertaint back then I suppose.

OK then. I've made my choice.
This game is from the end of the 1980s. I played it on the C64 but it also came out for the amiga, atari and the PC. The genere is simulation and the more specific clue is a colour. Not giving you the specific colour though.

Damn it, Space cowboy got it. I was just about to post an allegory with a bear (the russian bear; see cover of game)as opponent that offers you drinks (Whiskey-subs) and dancing (Tango-subs).

Oh, I so loved that game, especially the opening with the music and the sub going across the screen bringing up the letters. Possibly my favorite opening movie for a C64 game.
Oh, and I'll post a new one in a second. It is getting tough to find good ones that already have not been done.

Okay late '80s
I had it on the amiga, but was on the C64 as well, perhaps others.
It was a 4th in a series of games (engine wise) but was not the 4th in the series (plot wise).
The first three of the series have already been guessed in this game.
I bought it but never played it. "And I don't know why?"

Is it the Bard's tale game that came well after the others?
Can't remember the name without googling, so I'll go for Bard's Tale 4.
