sorry GhengisFarb, i thought you were questioning the actual clue
so no the answer isnt metallica, but the game somehow has a connection to the band........
Clue 4: in maybe an even more strained way it also has a connection to the film 'Alien 2' or actualy 'Aliens'(oops), if my memmory serves me well.........

Right, I know nothing about Metallica other than what people say on Poly and what little I'm forced to hear on the radio (eeech!), so I'll name random song titles I think are theirs (I know, like, three) and we'll see if they're also games.

#2: Seek and Destroy
(#3: Enter Sandman, #4: Until it Sleeps and #5: St. Anger are probably pointless to guess, so I won't. )

Bucks got it - but would you care to narrow it down(or someone else can if their quick), as a random guess doesnt seem right?

Ok i see Ghengis has pre-empted my thought so i'll ahve to give youguys the tie-breaker question
first one on the buzzer -
How is the film 'Aliens' associated with this game?
[tell me if neither of you have played the game - you'll need a different question ]

On the money Buck!
Yep the phrase when you die is a straight rip off from the film 'Aliens' - "Game over man!Game Over!" i think it was 'Hicks' from the movie that spoke these words when it was going horribly wrong.
After that you had a sampled sound of your base trying to get hold of you which finished with the eternaly sad words, "I think we've lost him sir"
It was a cool game - 360 scrolling and lots of action
link for info on game

Way to go Buck!
Just goes to show you that even if no one gives us a game we can start randomly guessing things and eventually get the answer!

Right, new game:
Originally an arcade game, late 80s, converted to at least C64, Amiga, Atari ST, Amstrad and Speccy.
Its unique gameplay made it one of the top co-op multiplayer games on the c64 (which is the platform I played it on).

The uniqueness was in part due to the difference in roles between the two players.

Never was any good with the jeep though
Ok next up. An Amiga (and quite possibly PC) game from 1991. It was a sequel and was one of those games where the developer's name was always mentioned. Not quite at the Sid level of fame though. It was 3D and sort of strategy, sort of rpg and a bit of shoot 'em up.

Chaos Engine great multiplayer game but no.
And completely off topic i'm re-reading the 'difference engine' which always makes me think of the chaos engine.
I did mention the genre although its a mixture and while there is a driving element (in fact quite a bit) its not a racing game as such. In fact you can drive tanks, sail boats and fly planes....

Sounds pretty much like GTA, but it wasn't released to the Amiga, and wasn't called something with the developers name in...

If it isnt then i'll plum for one of the 'Midwinter' games(Midwinter2)?

oh and Standup - ignore all of them except Midwinter2, the other was just to help and doesn't really fit the clue.
