Good, we can all avoid torturous rhymes for another day or two.

It's actually strange that I initially guessed Pedro, which as you say, shares a theme (of pest killing, as it happens). I got it through that.

Game coming up later on.

Clue1:

Clue 2: The first trilogy of games were all concerned with you trying to escape from your present surroundings.

True but in these games the escaping is central to the game, not just the opening puzzle.

These clues are as generic as the Zork series.

More better clues!

The clues are meant to start hard. If clue 1 was rhymes with slim bandango you would all get it.

Clue 2 is quite good actually.

Clue 3: Game 2 is famous for you needing to use 1 swear word to finish the game. In game 3 you have a 99 turn limit, and if you don't succeed in this time an overgrown rodent eats you.

I didn't play many text-based games with spectrum, only the Hobbit and some Valhalla game, which name I don't remember...

[in quiet desperation]

AdventureQuest?

(or Horace goes adventuring I-IV ).

I'm grasping at my non-spectrum playing straws
