Hall of fame problem
I replaced the original conquests.bic with onee that allowed me to play with more civs, but now it seems the game doesn´t register the games I play in the hall of fame anymore...

Modified games don't get saved in the Hall of Fame, just ones with the original rules. (I personally don't like this feature as I too play with modded rules most of the time).

bad rule

you can modify the hall of fame by hand in notepad, run a search on this site for instructions on how to.

Tey seem to have no interest in changing this as it has been broached many times. I don't follow the reason behind the restriction.

I don't either. Yes, comparing scores with modded rules might be like comparing apples and oranges, but who cares? It's not like you'll ever see my (now empty) HOF.

Or even if we did, it will not mean anything to us, since we know they can be tampered with. It will just be an FYI thing, so I don't see the harm. I would like more data in it as well. Let's beef it up, allow us to add notes to each line and be able to display them.

If they make it accept all games and some free form notes, I would write a program to display it. It would make a easy to find reference. I could then check to see if I actually ever finished a game using a given civ. See if I ever palyed a game on a tiny map.
I want all the settings in the record.

Now I am only guessign if I actually ever play as all the civs. Yeah, I could make a spreadsheet, but they sort of already have one in the HoF.

I agree. I think we absolutely should have the *option* to have games with modified rules recorded in the hall of fame, by for example having one hall of fame for the basic game and another for any variations.

This is especially considering not all rules modifications are done to get higher scores; the only thing I have changed is all the civs' colors to be separate so that they won't change depending on other civs in the game. (The same thing I did with vanilla Civ3 and PTW, resulting in my never being able to utilise the hall of fame!)

Of course I can do the statistics by hand or edit the HoF file manually, but I would very much like it to work automatically, the way it should. I don't think a Hall of Fame record is a proof of authenticity under original rules anyway, considering it can be changed... so there definitely should be a similar (separate, if you want to) record of games played under modified rules.

The problem with making your own spread sheet is you have to remember to do it. If all the data was in the HoF record, it gets added automatically, so I won't have to remember. They could have a field to note if it was a mod or not.
