Limit to number of units?
After I won a space race game I decided to keep playing until the map was one color. After building a large amount of units my cities quit producing them. I still had plenty of money per turn, when statrting a another turn the cities would say they produced another unit but there would not be anything there, and my citizens moods were ok.

Yes, there is a limit to the number of total units in the game.

Yup and you could run into the limit for cities and not be able to make any more.

IIRC, the unit limit is 4096

well, if you develop a computer with infinate resources, we'll make a game with infinate units.

EDIT/CLARIFICATION: by "we" i meant coders in general, not any one company / group in particular.

It is not crazy. They wanted to be able to ensure that the game played reasonably on most computers. You are not going to like it with 8,000 units on lower end CPU.

Not to mention that even in a 31(32) civ game in Conquests, it still works out to an average of 128 units per Civ. And that's the worst case scenerio average. An typical 8(9) civ game is going to run around 455 units per civ.

Maybe an option allowing users to set the limit higher could be added to the next patch.

Nah, it isn't necessary and would actually probably cause problems. The limit is hardcoded for a reason.

To me 4096 seems to be enough. I don't think I ever been over 300 on a standard map. Even that amount felt like too much.

I really don't want to move 4000 units around either, unless the UI are radically changed to ease the manipulation of such silly numbers.

hi ,

, in fact it would be nice to see at least a 2048 increase , way to often it happens that one cant build any more units , especially on the larger maps or during MP , ......

and while we are at it , the number of cities could also go up , ....

have a nice day
