Wonders Graphics
Maybe it is just me, but where are the graphics for the new wonders, because they sure in heck don't show up in the overhead view of my cities?
Anyone else have the same problem?

They aren't there. Firaxis decided to leave them out because almost no one uses the city view.

Well at least I know my game isn't messed up, but talk about being lazy they could have at least added them. I'd make them myself and add them in, but have no idea how. Maybe someone with the knowledge will make them one day...if they do I download them for sure.

It wasn't laziness (Jesse was putting in 100+ hour work weeks on this project from what I hear), it was combination of an ambitious feature list, a short schedule, and fixed budget. These things take time and money to do, so they prioritized features. These were deemed to be lower priority.
Even if the art were done the code would need to be changed to display them, this is why they decided to leave them out.

Sorry...didn't wanna step on anyones toes, but none the less the graphics should have been added. As a consumer I expect better for my hard earned money as we all do. Enough said.

The city view is completely unimportant game-wise, almost nobody cares about it, and they would have had lots of trouble with the conquests. No laziness involved.

If you expect aireal view for your money, then expect to wait another long while. It is a feature that most will not bother with after the first few times they look at them.
I am glad to not have to wait longer for a feature that I will not use. They can keep the palace building as well.

The funny thing is, the art does seem to be done, you can see their city view screenshots in the civilopedia.
It just doesn't seem to have been used in the city view.

I have other hobbies I could have waited.

Apparently you are wrong ... I like to look at it from time to time and so do my friends ... aren't we supposed to?

I wanted to look at the City View just to see where the new Wonders would be placed.... Denied!
Oh Well, although mildly disapointing, I hardly ever look at the city view anyway.
I can't say that I've lost any sleep over not being able to see the new Wonders in my ciites, but I CAN say that I've lost some sleep now that I've aquired this new edition.

I do miss the cutting edge (for the times) graphics of civ2. The advisors, wonders movies, and animated heralds were far ahead of their time. Too bad that they decided not to challenge themselves to go beyond that.

I recognize tha everyone has their own tastes and priorities for the game.
But as a consumer of the product I would be inclined to strangle anyone on the production team that wanted to hold up release of the game for something that may add to the immersive aspects of the experience but doesn't add to the gameplay aspects (such as the palace and city views). And if I were a producer or anyone associated with the publisher, I would recognize that strangulation would open up all sorts of corporate liability and would therefore restrain myself enough to either summarily fire the person for tremendous lack of judgment, or, failing that, having the team member reassigned to SidGolfsTheWorld or some such project.
Your mileage, and opinion, may vary.

Well, now that the product made it out well in a timely manner. Cheers and double cheers!! However, for a follow-up patch please include the following: (And of course no need to hurry to much as I am very busy playing the game as is!!)
1. Add City View
2. Give me a great palace to build for Christ's sake, something worthy of my vast acheivements. Many thanks.
3. I want those little movies back, geesh I beat those AI's didn't I, give me some fanfare and mood music to boot. (oh and by the way the music is so good this time around I would buy it outright and listen to it!!)
4. Not last however most importantly, I Want to Import my saved games back into the Editor.
Oh yes and please get the AI to attack my armies, again thanks.
Sincerely,
A worshipful addict

I look at the city view occasionally.
But the problem might have been that there needs to be predetermined spaces for the wonders, and they may not have had the room.

Am I the only person that, from Civ 4, would like to see a nice tourist-map style graphic replacing the current city view.
What I mean is the same kind of top-down block-drawn 2D format you'd get if you bought a foldout tourist map of a city - showing the layout and the major landmarks.
Naturally this would be different for the different ages - scratches on a tablet for ancient, old ink on parchment for medieval and a modern map-type-map for modern - and each city's growth could be represented ( even the ethnicity e.g - some cities having Iroquois ghettos )
It would AKAIK be easier to impliment and at the same time avoid the whole - we-live-in-a-town-with-twelve-houses-three-skyscrapers-the-hanging-gardens -and-the-pyriamids syndrome.

I don't look at the City View anymore, because it is ugly. Make it worthwhile, and I'll look at it again. The best City View was the one from the original Civ, and that was DOS graphic, for christsake! Even founding a city had its own pretty animation.
The immersive aspects of the game, even if not so important like the gameplay, are appreciated by many civers
PS .. and yes, the current Palace is boring as well.

HAHA that's true, remember the cheesy sound effects when you would build something and it'd go to the city view? And the building would sorta "phase" into view?
BTW, where did the Sistine Chapel graphics go? I just captured Niagara Falls since it had the Chapel, but when I looked in the City View it isn't there...
