Name your "Stupid Movies"
The kind of movies that most people seem to like, but that you personally think is both a load of crap and totally stupid.
For me it's "The Game" with Michael Douglas. I mean, what do people see in this movie
A guy is tricked into playing some sort of game, with the promise that he can opt out at any time. The game then proceeds to ruin his life, and in the end he is told that is was all just a joke
Like "Yeah, sorry that we ruined your life, but it was a good laugh, wasn't it" :vomit:
Other candidates could be any Ace Ventura movie or "Tin Cup" with Kevin Costner.

All Fincher movies are crap, the Game is one of the least offensive ones and nothing compared to the ugly, ill-written, humourless, effects-****ing mess of plot holes that is Fight Club.

Agree on the Ace Ventura movies. Throw in Indiana Jones, too. I guess I'm unable to suspend disbelief far enough to enjoy those movies...

Gladiator. One of the most overhyped and over-adored pieces of crap in recent memory. Forrest Gump is up there, too.

"Blade Runner, and Minority Report"
*slap*!
I'll say Igby Goes Down, Gosford Park and the Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai.
Plus some people actually enjoyed Attack of the Clones. That is just wrong.

I know I'm going to catch heck from a couple of posters we all know, but I'd also like to add: "Gods and Generals" as one of the stupidest movies ever made.
(1) At numerous points during the movie the actors recite quotes from actual historical letters or speeches. Unfortunately the actors recite them in such a fashion that it's painfully obvious that these are historical quotes being recited.
(2) One of the high arts of Hollywood special effects is the ability to blend in silk screen paintings in such a manner that the audience doesn't realise that they're looking at a painting. Pity that the producers of this film weren't practicing the high art.
(3) Did a Georgian (Ted Turner) to teach the actors the Virginia accent? They certainly weren't taught by any Virginian I've ever known.
(4) Stonewall Jackson was a closet abolitionist? Oh Please! That's just so wrong! It would be like portraying Herman Goering as a closet Zionist! I've read things written by Jackson describing the proper discipline of slaves and why it was good for them.

Just like Rudyard Kipling praised for its poetry while actually he spent his life inciting slavery and land stealing from the "barbaric" african tribes

Certainly not, everyone thinks these are stupid movies so they don't fit this threads bill.

Top ten categories of stupid movies:
1) Any movie based on a computer game
2) Any movie based on an old TV show
3) Any movie* based on a Saturday Night Live sketch
4) Any movie** that "updates" classic literature by turning it into a teen film
5) Any Vin Diesel movie
6) Any Pauly Shore movie
7) Any John Grisham adaptation
8) Any movie starring a pop singer (but not rappers; rappers often make fine actors)
9) Any movie starring a supermodel ***
and...
10) The whole damned "Star Trek" franchise.
* except "Wayne's World" or "The Blues Brothers"
** except "Clueless"
*** except Kelly Lynch, who's turned out to be an excellent actress

Oh, come on; "Clueless" is a trifle, but certainly not stupid; in fact, if you know and love "Emma," it's downright clever -- whereas, if you know and love "Les Liaisons Dangereuses," "Cruel Intentions" is an abomination before God.

Well, yes, and for that matter, "The Manchurian Candidate," to say nothing of "A Hard Day's Night." But I assumed we were talking about relatively recent films. Now feel free to defend "Glitter" and "Crossroads".
