B. B. King, Buddy Guy, Bella Fleck, Phish, DMB, Beethoven, Mozart, Eric Clapton, Greatful Dead, G. Love/J. Johnson, Sting, Erasure, Vangels, Various Soundtracks (Edward Siccisorhands, Glory), King Crimson, Hot Tuna, Garth Brooks, and the Cheiftans/Ry Cooder to name a few.
Speers, ain't nothing wrong with Keeny G's music. Try some World Sax Quartet, Coltraine, or Dave Koz as well.

Kaak, although I consider Mazzy Star & Portishead more along the lines of "music to be depressed by".

Most of the stuff I listen to is for when I want to chill, things like radiohead, Blur, Aqualung, Coldplay, REM, Doves, Stellastarr*, Idlewild, Lambchop, Matchbox 20, Moby, Shuggie Otis, Miles Davis, Spiritualized, The Polyphonic Spree, The Flaming Lips, Tom McRae, The Verve or Zero 7. However, even when chilling, sometimes I just need some Darkness or Placebo to make me smile (good memories )

He's smooth, yeah, but he's sharp more often than not, and his technique leaves a lot to be desired. He can handle a soprano better than most, but there are many, many better sax players out there who don't get half the recognition/money/publicity he does. Sure, he's quite good, but having him as the most famous sax player in the world is like having Status Quo as the worlds most famous rock band. They appeal to many people, but technically, it's all very simple, and not representative of the ability of the genre. I would recommend anyone who likes him to listen to some Grover Washington. Same sort of smooth style, but technically much better IMHO.

Surprisingly similar. I tried the oboe and found it a lot easier transition than the clarinet even. However jazz, even Kenny G style 'smooth' jazz, doesn't go on an oboe. As an oboe playing friend used to say whenever we started going off into something a lil more funky, the oboe is about the least jazzy sounding instrument there is.

An old rock band, played to huge audiences, but played just a few chords. Technically very poor, but seemed to sell a lot of records/concert tickets.

I recently downloaded a couple of Jimmy Buffet songs, pretty good.
