Just think: one of these albums may have been the music that inspired your mother to say "Yes."

Not for the timid, pretty gruesome and graphic.
The story behind it is, that a member of the band, Mayhem, called Dead committed suicide following a brief tour. Sometime later, his bandmate Euronymous discovered Dead's body and took the picture for the cover.
Some say that the pic is faked, but Dead did commit suicide and did so like is depicted in the photo, slit his wrists and shot himself in the head. His suicide note read "Excuse all the blood." One of the band members allegedly boiled and ate some of his brain as well before the cops were called. Silly Norwegian musicians.

Would anyone like to guess at the lyrics of "Julie's Sixteenth Birthday" ?

no one posted the manowar picture. Good stuff. They are so over the top, but they seem to take their stuff seriously.
But check out the songs Defender Dark Avenger- it's kind of cool in a cheesy 80'ish heavy metal sort of way.
here's my contribution. Yes what I'm posting here is going to seem sacrilgeous, but oh well.

Most of those are no-name acts, however they do have a top-10 artist on there 2nd list - Orleans. They had two top 10s in the mid-70s: "Dance With Me" and "Still the One". Even Missy Jackson (the toilet chick) had a couple of top 40 songs, one of them the theme song to Cleopatra Jones, a Blaxploitation flick.

death metal?
okay he doesn't look like a death metaller. Either country, or some weird form of folk/pop/soft rock

OK, technically, these are PR shots, not album covers.
But I had to share...
Check out these musicians!
