BREAKING NEWS: Bush visits Iraq!
Just saw on CNN and Fox News, that Bush paid a surprised visit to our troops in Iraq. He landed at Baghdad Int. Airport and had a thanksgiving dinner with about 600 troops.
Way to go Mr. President!
Bush

Well, there were some "tiny" security issues.

And as a chrismas gift the president will make sure to make further cuts to benefits paid military families!

I must say that it is a brilliant press event, though. All the reporters get to go gaga, spend the whole day talking about it, on day most people are at home and will have the chance to hear about it all day. And thankfully no soldiers were killed this day, so the press gets to be totally supportive.

Impressive. However, if someone wanted to kill him*, this would be the perfect chance.
*someone in Irak, that is.

Actually, I thought there were two more soldiers killed in Mosul that they talked about on the news today?

Al Qaeda probably think it was very unsporting of Bush to drop into the neighbourhood unannounced. They didn't even have time to prepare a welcome reception.
All those jihadists watching him on TV, fuming that Bush didn't bother to call ahead. So near and yet so far.
Excellent PR stunt. It'll give his ratings a good boost I imagine.

I know this will go down well with our troops. I hope the Iraqi's themselves appreciate what Bush has done.

So are you advising his advisers to advise him with only good advice?

It's almost like how Mao went and visited the villages of China Except Mao could speak Chinese better than Bush can speak English.

A very nice gesture by Bush (And Hillary, who's in Afghanistan)
[troll]
And hey, it gets both of them further away from us, right?

Anyone think Hillary might be just a little pissed off that Bush came in and stole a lot of thunder?
The visit will have little effect on the ground situation there but the boost in morale was needed. It was a different situatioin from the Bush Sr. visit to Saudia Arabia during the build up to desert storm.
And on a side note, so much for the all seeing media.

Was that plate just for Dubya?
Shame Dubya isn't a porker, would have made the joke funny.
