Hey guys
Sorry for unexpectedly dropping out of my pbem games, I just needed to get away from the computer for a while and concentrate on my life/studies.
Unfortunatly my laptop is completly dead, and this old win 95 box is simply not up to running civ3, so I will not be able to retake my position. It looked like I had the game in the bag anyway

Greetings Snotty. I have taken over both games for you, Indeed you were in a good position in both. The kind of game you like to step in to.
Hope you can make it back into the civin world soon.

I don't have anytime for civ anymore.
I've put all my games up for "sale". I've had a great time for the past couple years and will still hang around the forums. Just very little time for gaming.
If you know anyone interested in picking up some more games send them over to the sale thread.
Thanks again!

Welcome snoopdog!!!
You know, with these two games, that makes it an even half dozen pbem games where you play after me.
Playing now - and saves on their way shortly.

Beta, are you going to eat that dog in your avatar? 'Dog days of summer' has a slightly different meaning here . . . . .

Understood - and NO! Other than perhaps OctavianX's occasional donut, I don't eat avatars.
Although you know - someone should eat Ghengis.

OK folks - I have the last saves. Sorry for the delay. I have been fairly occupied the last few days.
Now - I also had some time this morning - and re-arranged my dual install - as it was originally set up for most games playing under 1.15, and a few under 1.22. All my games are now 1.22 except for these. I was led to believe that certain games - includingthis one could not be upgraded - something to do with it not being modded.
Well - I screwed up my re-arrangement of the programs and versions. I got Conquests set up properly on 1.22, but wiped out my 1.15. So, I thought - let's see what happens to islands. It loaded and played perfectly under 1.22.
So, if Ok with the rest of you - can we upgrade to 1.22? I won't play until I hear from you.

Ok - here is the wird thing. The older game plays just fine on 1.22. The newer one does not. I get the typical I/O error messages and then the civ3 message about error reading the file.
So - some choices:
1. We drop the game.
2. We continue playing in 1.15, in which case, give me some time to figure out how to fix the mess I have made of my dual (actually, triple) install. I would suggest the other game continue on its way until this one is set to go and then we can synchronize them again.
3. Drop the old and start a new one. I know - not particularly appetizing, but how about we throw in a twist. 4 players - we each get two civs - all island starts. The players two civs will play back-to-back, so it plays like one turn. We can call it "Many Islands in the Stream." And I suggest we get a third party to set it up. No two civs start on the same island as was the case with H_E and I in this game. And each pair of civs are reasonably separated, to avoid early consolidation.
Originally I was not keen on a new game - but after having got involved in the two-civ appraoch with Paddy and crew, I like it.
I vote for 3. But I will go with the majority vote here.

Any option is fine with me although I prefer both Island games (if we keep them) be the same version to avoid confusion.
A new game with each of us playing one or two civs sounds good because the original games are pretty dull at the moment. But that might just be because of the slow pace of the game. We have two new players in both games and that takes some of the spirit out of play. Not because they are boring players but simply because they weren't in it from the beginning. To start fresh with these players would create more interest, I think.
