a) It still requires that I get off my fat ass, which it shouldn't
b) What if I'm not a concientious objector, but simply don't want a gun at this time?

Yeah, the Mormans who run the state dutifully vote exactly the way the head cultist tells them to vote.

"Mormans"
And while that may be so, we aren't passing laws saying "You *MUST* own a copy of the book of Mormon or pay $100 to the church"

Well, before we even argue about this, what % of the people there already own guns? America has more guns than people, after all.

Some of them do. Less so in the US, but they call up the equivalents of the Pinkerton's all the time. Look at what Coke's bottling plants are doing to union leaders in Colombia.

They're killing them by the millions in ovens? They're purposely starving them as to enforce an insane ideology? They've started a war with, say, Venezuela that costs billions of dollars and thousands of lives?

I side with JohnT here.
Since States can become nasty, let's obliterate every collective undertaking for the sake of individual undertaking.
No more Police! People can take care of themselves. If women get raped, I guess they deserved it, being too weak and all that.
No more Justice! If people have a quibble, whoever hires the toughest thugs wins.
No more Public Education! Only the rich can buy education for their kids. That'll teach these poor buggers not to be poor.
YAY!

Who do you think was forced to finance the Nazi party? Regardless, hindsight is 20/20 Ramo - nobody expected Hitler to do as much as he did, even as late as '38. But by then, if you're Siemens (for ex) it's too late to do anything but go along.
But yeah, if you want to argue that the fact of the German military had no presence in the minds of the German companies who were "asked" for donations, please, go right ahead.

So is the question who caused greater harm and evil; the corporations or the communist left? If so then I'm sure just about everyone will be able tomake the right decision after seeing the tens (easily 50+ million between the two) of millions killed by Stalin and Mao vs the, comparetively minor, events corporations have caused. If we include the good things which each side has caused then I'm 100% sure the benifets which corporations have brought about far, far out weight the benifets supposed communist utopias have brought about.

Not the corporations while the Nazi's lacked political dominance.

Yeah, it was much more civilized back then. Only strikers and unionists and communists were to be purged.

Before they came to power. The Nazis were bankrolled by corporations.

The attempt to change mankind altogether is by far the most terrible thing that has struck the 20st century. Because some overpowered leaders had the delusion of creating a "new mankind", mankind has experienced the worst slaughters ever.
Even the most evil corporation is a mere thugocracy in comparison to Pol Pot, to Hitler, to Stalin or to Mao. Because even the most evil corporation doesn't try to create a new mankind fit to its leader's delusional perceptions of mankind.
NOW, I'll still take a democratic country over a greedy corporation anyday.
