what are some things you do
when things look really bleak and crappy enough to make you wish you were anywhere but where you are, even dead?
just curious.

If I'm depressed I go for a run, sleep, or try to think of people who are worse off then I am. Thinking of things to be thankful for adds perspective.

I solve really weird physics problems, try to prove things like the Riemann Zeta Hypothesis, read a history book or play 12 hours of Civ 2 straight...

I have a full set of drums. They are noisy and I can hit them as hard as I want, to let out some anger.

when im seriously bummed, i usually sleep a lot, and while i AM awake, i write down everything that comes into my head. you know, the stream of consiousness ****. then when it's all out, and i'm feeling a little better, i destroy the paper. my favorite method is burning.

Depends on what made me bummed out. If its girls, I'll drink. If it's school, I'll listen to loud music. If it's just life in general, I'll smoke. Sleeping, listening to good music, and writing help too.

Sleep is a good method. If impossible, then also write down whatever comes to my mind. It's only that I keep everything I ever wrote. I have a good amount of various papers - thoughts, feelings, short stories, a children's book, and other stuff. Would be quite revelaing if anyone read those. Oh, and I also have photocopies of some interesting letters I wrote...

one of my notes was found by my parents when i was 13, and from then on i've destroyed whatever i wrote.
for a while after that, i didnt write my feelings down, but without my preferred method of venting, i got really pissed off.

OK, I have a method that ensures noone reads what I write, at least not when I don't want to, but if I said that, I'd probably sound nuts.

I write stuff like that really really small and cramped so its only really readable if you have some idea what it is about or a lot of time to spare. And then I leave out all my 'r's and 's's and occasionally 'm's.
I ake it had to ead fo a ditance at leat, and not any people can be botheed to ty popely.

Well, my handwriting is terrible as it is, and reading it takes an effort, but my method is safer. You know, some people (usually with bad handwritings themselves) can read pretty much anything.

I pray, read the Bible, talk to my sweetheart wife of 18 + years,
I also just accept that although a situation may seem bleak, Perspective on the situation often helps and try to find an upside..so I "choose" to not focus on the negative but rather seek a positive view of the situation..
I say I try because sometimes yes I do get down..
I have been through a lot in my life so it takes a lot to really get me down now
Peace

Smoke weed, play Civ, hang about on 'Poly, practice yoga postures and breathing exercises. I'd highly recomend the yoga.

Exercise -- a walk of about a mile is sufficient to bring me out of about any depression.
Of course last year, I fled to the far side of the Earth, the tropical paradise island nation of Maritius.

Try to find someone having an even worse time and sort their life out instead. Or failing that, i would have to agree with the alcohol option.

hm.. i'll have to say when i posted this yesterday i was quite scaring myself.
after all, trying to come out of a depression, and then getting extremely bad news when you think you're finally out of the woods that sends you into what feels like a tailspin.
feel much better now. mass and then talking to my gf helped quite a bit. i usually talk to her to get out of a funk, but yesterday was quite scary.
i don't remember much of mass at all. something about us going into cycle c/2, but i don't know where that came from.

I would play a musical instrument if I have access to it. If I don't, I'll see if I can go paragliding. Barring that, try archery. If that fails, I usually run really really fast around the tracks until I drop dead, then I crawl back to sleep.
Of course, if my SO is around, I'd just spend time talking with her instead.
