Disciples: Sacred Lands - is it any good?

I found this game on a bargain bin this afternoon and got interested in it, but I really have no clue about it. Is it a RPG? And is it good?

It's a TBS strategy game. Like Age of Wonders or Warlords. It's not to bad, if you like that kind of game.

My stepson's grandmother bought it for him for his birthday, he isn't into these kinds of games, so I checked it out.

It's playable.

I liked it quite a bit and my friend is playing it now and likes it. You have 4 races to choose from and have an objective to reach. They could be get so much land or kill so and so or recover an artifact. Simple graphics and easy to learn. Lots of maps on the web too. You will have leader and up to 5 members in your army.
Normally your leader will only have 2 units to start, but can level up and gain leadership to add another unit.

Combat is simple face to face with initiative determine which units go first. The best part is the special effects, they were quite good at that time for a tun base game.

Get Disciples II if only for the higher resolution. 640x480 is atrocious for a modern game.
