Hidden messages.
While copying down a tech tree from one of the new C3C conquests, I found a weird meaage that I never saw before. The message was" Compared to you most people have the IQ of a carret." It was said from the science adviser. I have never seen it before. Also I was in the adviser window for a logn time and I didn't get a screen shot. Has anyone else seen any of these hidden messages.

Doesn't sound like a hidden message - probably a way of saying you are advanced in tech.

Nope, didn't even have the starting settler down. There was other civ on the map, so the tech thing can be ruled out.

It does sound like a typical sort of Science Advisor message - the Military advisor sometimes says "Hail to the Emperor Baby!". At least we know there are some Bruce Campbell fans in Firaxis...
I don't see why not having settled yet meant you couldn't have such a message. You were first in the world with research, equal with every other civ. Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Of course I would test this, but if I had a new game staring at me for ages I would get the urge to play...

Did they actually misspell the word "carrot"?

No, I have seen this one and the people who made the game can spell (most of the time!).
I find the one where the adviser complains that "I'm not even supposed to be here today" more amusing.

I've seen the Science Advisor quote the carrot bit before. I, like previous posters here, think that it has to do with your advancement. Even if it was at the begining of the game, you still knew 2 techs and were at least tied w/ every other civ at the time.
I've also had both the Military Advisor and the Domestic Advisor say, "Hail to the King, Baby!" I think the MilAdv says it if you have the largest military and the DomAdv will say it if you are the wealthiest. (I wonder if the Cultural Advisor would say that if you have the most Culture?)

Now I have clue what that was about. I never thought about being equal in the tech would be the cause. Now the question is does the techs you have affect(sp) how highly advanced you are? I had pottery and warrior code. Now that its metioned I have read "hail the king baby" from the millitary adviser. Yes I did misspell the qoute.

My favorite: Once in a blue moon while playing late at night the Domestic Advisor tells me “Sleep is for the weak”.

Have you ever tried changing your government while already in anarchy? Domestic Advisor's reaction will let you speachless!!

Not if you do it on the same turn you research a new government.

Yesterday my military advisor told me 'compared to those other guys or military is strong', good news, except I hadn't met anyone yet...
