Come and get some, soft denizen of the sun belt. Hardy Northerners have dealt with you're Eastern cousins before. Don't forget your hockey sticks; when you go to the fights you never know when a hockey game will break out.

Nuke detonations wouldn't nearly be as devastating to the environment as the Cold War fear mongers made it out to be.
|
Surely, turning two continents into vast stretches of dirt and dust would be damaging to the environment?

If that asteroid didn't wipe out all life on earth, I don't a few ten thousand nukes could do it.

We're not talking about all life on earth, we're talking about human life. Humans need much more specific climates than snails, slugs, and moss...likewise, dinosaurs needed warm climates, and the asteroid was definitely not good for them...although a newer theory says that was merely the large, deciding factor of a more general overall climate trend.
Regardless of nuclear winter's reality, it's still a certainty that Nukes are bad, kids, mmkay?

Not really. Humans are the single most adaptable species on the planet. We're found in every environment, even some of the most barren and inhospitable ones. We're the only species to spread to every part of the globe.
