Tass, I fully support the right of anyone to express their opinions in non-violent ways. Feel free to burn the American Flag Santa! That is why this country exists(or why it is supposed to exist). So the answer to your question is that it was that incessant flashing that made me turn it off. But I can't say that I don't dislike burning our flag. I'm rather proud of it. Fortunately we live in a society where not only is there room for multiple opinions, but some still consider it healthy.
Thanks for changing the avatar. I have them turned back on now.

BTW, does anyone know where I can get an el cheapo, yet reliable, PC? Any Web sites? Or might it be better to stick with Dell and other such makers (except for Gateway — they can burn in hell forever, IMO)?
|
I'm quite happy with mine, though I think you'll be wanting a better computer. I have a Pentium 2. Got it for a little under 300$ without the monitor (I had one already.)
Would you mine getting one used?

^^^No, that's fine, you can keep yours. I was at Wal-Mart today and saw an HP Pavilion for a little over $500, everything included. Yeah, I know, you're not supposed to buy from chain stores like that ... but, hey, I'd be getting it mainly for sh*ts and giggles (I do all my serious stuff on a Macintosh).
Anyway, I'm still looking.

I think it's still too early for Civ4 forum, let's wait until more info comes out.

For a long time the civ2 forums hosted the civ3 ideas/wishes/rants.
So I think the civ3 forums would be a good place for discussion on civ4.

On topic: Please - no Civ4 forum as long as C3C isn't properly patched and therefore still somewhat open for suggestions.

Nobody has yet announced and confirmed Civ IV. You're jumping into hasty conclusions. Let's just wait untill we know that there will be a Civ IV.

Duh. I at least want to see some strong evidence, before I will trust that Firaxis is actually into Civ IV now. Maybe in the future, yes, but no credible evidence yet about Civ IV. I assume the confirmation will most likely be something stated by Atari, as they would be the publisher most likely.

We would want to discuss features we would like to see in Civ 4 before Firaxis even start the design stage of the game. Our ideas are hopefully to be used in this design stage.

Hmmm, Civ 3's main problem was that they listened to us about corrections to CIV II. *sigh*

Yes too many people who never played MP made suggestions fopr the game that made it very hard for firaxis to make MP work... So civ 3 releaesed with out MP....
Again seems most people are clambering for SP changes so civ4 will again be mainly SP focused and not capable of MP...
I propose we dont ever maeka civ 4 forum, but i know it will happen. stupid suggestions will be tawekn on board and the game will never be waht we wanted..... but a new generation wil love it and calim the civ3 ers are old and fuddy duddys as the civ 3 ers do to the civ 2ers

Yes, sadly most people would rather play against a predictable and easily beatable opponent. But then if people don't want to truely challange themselves, far be it for me to criticize them.

Of all the copies of Civ out there, how may are used to play MP? One in 100, a 1000?
Yes I am in a demo game and participate in AU games, but most civ players do not even come to the boards.

Challange is the same as Challenge to everyone but the stinking spelling nazis.
But if that was the only problem you found with my statement......................................... ........
If civII was only SP, I would have stopped playing years ago. (Oh wait, I did, until MP came out)
Less than half a dozen games of civIII SP before it got boring too. Anyone can beat the AI once you figure out a few tricks. Where's the skill? Where is the challAnge? But I do understand that MP isn't for everyone. Some due to time constraints, and others due to mental constrainsts.
