Thank you Firaxis and Breakaway!!
In general, of course (pending the patch for the FP, the RCP fix, and the GPT fix)!!!
But here are a couple of particulars I haven;t seen noted:
* Ordered units when right-clicking a stack. YAY!!
* The Barracks symbol.
* Group moves not erasing fastmover moves.
*ARMIES!!
Consider this a tribute thread for the little polishes that have been added... contribute your own!
(Now, we still need to talk about Marine+Berserk Armies... )

exactly what is Breakaway games? I never heard of it before this game came out.
And I do like the scenarios- I commend them on that. And I like the modern naval warfare (I'm only judging by the ww2 pacific scenario- as I don't play the epic game). It more closely represents how air power takes over importance in control over the seas.

I really like the volcanoes and give them a big thumbs up for putting those in! I just take a weird sort of glee in seeing an AI city get whiped off the face of the planet on a whim of the RNG. Luckily, I haven't suffered the same fate yet, but it isn't for lack of trying! Heh.

uhh, what is the barracks symbol? I'd like to know- that would save me a lot of hassle- although I'm in the habit of memorizing which cities have barracks anyways.

AFAIK, they are a small PC-game company that specializes in add-ons. They did the 'Paradise Island' expansion to PopTop's 'Tropico' (sort of a city building / political sim - both the game and the expansion were quite good), and also the 'Cleopatra' add-on to 'Pharao' (also about city building, don't know details about that one).

When looking at the city in the map view you will see a small diamond with a horizontal sword in it. That is the symbol that let's you know there is a barracks in the city. Airports and harbors have similar symbols.

0 range bombard as standard is my fave.
My hat goes off to the ideas they have crammed into this XP. King level ups and unit spawning wonders. Fantastic.

The AI seems to be much better at blocking chokepoints, such as the example below. fairly far from the greek homecities. Of course, we'll see how useful it actually was in this game once I see what's on the other side
edit: after moving again, I realized that there were in fact two hoplites guarding the chokepoint, one to the 6 of the one in the screenshot.

Good for you, Theseus. I think it's a marvellous game. I don't really understand what the gpt problem is: too much? too little? Maybe I just haven't played enough games with the new XP yet. The thing I'm having a great deal of trouble getting my head around is the lack of strategic resources. Just as I'm sailing along and all ready to upgrade (because I've discovered the tech) I find out I don't have a bit of saltpeter, or coal, or whatever. Lots of those tobacco and sugar plants, of course. But now I'm faced with giving my mortal competitor (or enemy) two arms and one leg to get saltpeter for 20 turns. I find it a challenge but will get used to it.

Along w/ Theseus', et. al.
I also enjoy the 'default' Leathal Bombardment from Bombers (I think Cruise Missles too) and Nukes--haven't tried the Nukes yet, but I think I remember hearing about them here on Apolyton.
Hat's off to the developers of C3C!

Also a big thanks to the developers. Overall great package. I especially think the AI is better at combat and war. Much better strategies and uses lots of units. Great.

Yes indeedy - just agreeing with the thread title.
I am actually finishing games now! I almost never did that in PtW!
Cheers for adding kindling to the old flame.

I thought I'd revive this!!
I was talking with a guy at the office today who is a Diablo II fanatic and evidently pretty well known in that community. I was describing the interactions with and support from Firaxis and Breakaway... he was blown away.
So cheers again to you guys!!

I thought that Blizzard had a good record of consumer support.

Love DiabloII and Blizzard has a rep for making good games and supporting them well. Not for interacting with the community.

No, he said they do, and that their track record of delivering quality and non-buggy games is great (disclosure: they are a client of my firm , as is EA), but that the developer involvement with the community is nothing like I was describing about Firaxis et al.
