The Three Sisters
I did alright on the obelisk tutorial conquest, so now I'm onto the 'Three Sisters'.
I've played a little way in, built five cities (accel prod. is wierd) and explored my quarter of the map, but only just discovered how you're supposed to get that threasure to the volcano - by fusing it into another unit.
Is it best to send it asap with the starting force, or use the start units to explore first, then build a civ and start pumpin' treasure?

Hey, I've just met an Olmec warrior wearing red writing, and not far from the volcanoes. Shame it's only a spear I've got - I presume that their treasure is in that warrior, and in answer to my own question, you've got to get your own treasure moving pretty quickly. Looks like I'm forked then... unless I can kill everyone else's treasures.
Maybe I'll try a single-core epic game instead.

Getting those Treasures to the Volcanoes is the key. Once you drop one off, another pops up in your capitol. It will probably take several trips to win. If you position some strong offensive units near the Volcanoes, you may be able to grab the other Treasures before they are dropped off.

nice quick scenario. You can still win maybe if you put the treasures on a fast unit.
My first treasure I put on a spearman. All the subsequent ones I put on javelin throwers.

I liked this scenario. Definitely quick. Didn’t do a lot a building, fought a quick war and was able to pop workers with the Javelin throwers which were used primarily to build roads toward the volcano area.

I can't remember exactly. But I did build quite a few cities, I didn't actually need that many, but I wasn't that familiar with the scenario. I actually had one city razed in a war with another civ (horizontally accross from me). You just need enough cities to support a decent sized army. Building roads is just as important.

I noticed that Granary's don't work out so well in hi-food cities with accel prod. OK for +5 food maybe, but +4 is innefficient.

Alright, I found a cheap way to win this one. Attach the princess to one of your units, then build a settler and send the settler and all your archers/spearmen to the volcanoes. Build a defensive unit to protect your capital while they are travelling.
Then when you get near the volcanoes, build a city with the settler, disband your capital, and then deliver the princess.
Now your capital is only a couple squares from the VP locations, so the princesses spawn right there.

Of all the exploits I've seen, this has got to be one of the best ever
Almost makes me want to go back and do those 2 intro conquests I ignored

That's just cruel to the poor ai. He can't ever compete with that.

Good thinking on that exploit.
I just got Conquests and was wondering whether people think it is really necessary to play the intro stuff first.

I usually wait at least 2 years before playing any scenario maps.
They give me an excuse to play some more after I may have had enough of the std game, plus they will have fix a few things.

I only played the first intro conquest, got bored, and moved on to the real deal. And frankly, I didn't find a reason for playing the intro campaigns first
The BEST use I can see for them, is if you just got Civ and all packs for the first time, and REALLY have no idea

Alright then, I guess I will just skip the intros. I probably wouldn't be able to handle the intros because I really want to try out the Japan conquest.

I disagree.
The intro scenarios are fun in themselves, especially the locked alliance one. I tried that as the Dutch, and without building additional cities. This was a mistake, as I found when trying to go on the offensive and meeting the German UU in huge quantities.

I built my cities in a line going from the start loc to the volcanoes, and my last city built was right outside of eruption range.
i do have to say that in order to finish when I did, I had to, ahem, borrow treasure units from my foes, who essentially ignored me until it was too late for them to be a real threat.
And was I the only person who took about an hour trying to figure out why the treasure couldn't move on its own? (cuz it's so heavy...)
