yet another "help me with my piece of **** computer, please" thread.
My computer has been doing some increasingly odd things in the past few days. Among these are . . .
1. I can no longer have open more than one copy of Internet Explorer open at once, or ALL copies of it close automatically, explorer shuts down and restarts, etc. (this is especially bad too, as any windows that get popped up, or any links that open a new browser lead to immediate freezing and closure of said windows)
2. I can't open AOL and Internet Explorer at the same time, or AOL restarts.
3. I can't open Microsoft Word at ALL, if i do, it just closes down and restarts and closes down and restarts in and endless cycle unless i make it stop.
4. my home web page (the page that opens automatically) keeps being reset to the same page over and over again, no matter how many times i change it, each time i restart my computer, my home page is the same page (not one that I ever set it too, either. some advertisers web page)

Spybot S&D -- USE IT
That should fix the homepage resetting at least. (What does it reset it to?)
Then (or before) scan for virii as well. Make sure you've got up-to-date definitions
And then switch to something other than that goddamn peice of AOL ****. That's going to be the biggest helpful hint you get.

BTW, if you people aren't using a firewall yet, you should. Zone Alarm is free for personal use.

THIS ONE IS STILL HAPPENING, AND IT"S DRIVING ME MAD!!!!!!!
Maybe most people don't realize it, but there are ALOT of sites out there that do this. While trying to resolve it, going through the microsoft web pages for help, it tried to pop open a second browser (or second window, i don't know) and i had to restart the damn thing 3 times!! I really need a solution to this ASAP.

Perhaps try to repair IE? Just install it under Add/Remove Prorgams and you can choose to repair it.
Though I recommend you to change to a better brower: Mozilla, Firebird, or Opera.

did you get the latest windows update?
although that worm had to deal with restarting computers, but maybe it causes this as well.

I don't think it's MS Blaster that causes this.

I thought about that actually. There was a foldier that 2 or 3 of the viruses were in, and the folder name had the same name as one of the infected files, so i just deleted the whole folder. Maybe that was a bad move

I tried that, it didn't work. It's not just IE that is the problem though, other programs do this too (but not all programs)

Another thing i've noticed. . . I can open aol 8.0, but not 9.0
Also, if IE is open, then AOL won't open, and if i try it closes out IE as well. But if AOL is open first, i can open IE and they both work fine.
