1250 BC:
Made a number of changes to build orders. We need a lot more Workers, keeper cities need Temples, I hate reg units so several Barracks. Also sold Masonry to Japan for 50g. Decreased research to an 87 turn pace, now generating 14gpt. Sent the northern Scout towards Japan to look for legal pillaging opportunities.
Why Mapmaking? Hmmm, maybe try to turn Basra into a coastal GW builder.
1100 BC:
Sold MM for 50 gold to Carthage, and gifted it to Japan.
800 BC:
Polytheism for Math from Carthage and Code of Laws from Japan.
730 BC:
7 Chariots descend on Atlanta... razing commences by the 6 that survive.
690 BC:
1 Sword and 4 Archers attack and raze Chicago, losing 1 Archer. 6 WCs attack and raze Philly, no losses. Almost ready for peace.
650 BC:
Pillaged America's horses.
630 BC:
Peace with America for WM, 17 gold, Seattle, Miami, and... HBR (it's time, with fifteen Chariots, of which FIVE are redlined). Leaves Abe with only Washington (Pyramids) and New York. Circle back for Washington in 20 turns. I abandon Miami and Seattle.
Given the location of Carthage's only horses, I sell HBR for WM and 30g.
550 BC:
I see that Carthage has settled the southern isle, so they have Galleys out... I therefore sell them contact with the Americans, and sell contact to Japan.
This gives me enough gold to get all of my Horsemen upgrades done, except two reg Chariots.
I build Aden at the chokepoint.

I've built Temples in all of the keeper cities except Aden. I am using solely MPs for the moment for mood, as I spent just about everything on Horse upgrades, and want to build up some bank again.
I also brought down pop a bit building Settlers.

In addition to the forces listed below, I've got 1 Scout, 3 Settlers, 10 Workers, and numerous slaves.

Ok - speaking of Solid!
Here are the major events:
1100bc - MM to Carthage for 75 gold.
I had finished Map Making and went to Polytheism.
I picked up on Kon's theme of building chariots, and had most of the central cities producing chariots for future upgrades.
In the meantime , the archers and warriors closed on Washington - bypassed it, and move to the iron supply on the mountain further north. Our warrior defeated the sole Amerian swordsmen who appeared. By then, the iron was pillaged and it was strictly spears and archers.
950bc - figured I had enough chariots (17), so traded MM to Japan for HBR and 48 gold.
Then traded HBR to Carthage for 25 gold.
It is worth noting that the domination team has Carthage bottled up, unlike the last tean I voted on - spaceship I think. This is useful as you can always get some cash out of Hannibal for techs, and you are the only one trading with him.
Upgraded 10 chariots to horsemen. Time to rock. Next turn they head for Washington. And btw - a road north has been under construction.
800bc - build Aden to the Nw - towards Edo. Barracks in Damascus.
Also - this turn the Lux (spices) near Kurasan is connected.
775bc - Washington conquered. We now have possesion of the pyramids. Delayed the major push against America until the pyrmaids were produced. We also get some workers.
Move on to crush the other American cities in the area, capture an American settler (two workers), and use one to build a colony on the furs to the north. Now have two luxuries connected to the empire.
650bc - war with Japan. Took the opportunity as we could nail a spear and settler team. Add two more Japanese workers.
Made peace with America for two workers.
Also - in this turn, traded Poly to Carthage for Code of Laws and 50 gold.
Two more horseman upgraded.
And oh yes - back to the techs- after chewing through Poly in quick order, went on to Monarchy. Researched at relatively high rate - which is why there are still some warriors and chariots waiting for upgrades.
But switched to monarchy - don't you just love religious civs - one turn of anarchy only - and then switched to math - which by 550 will be done next turn.
So research wise, that is Math in 1, Code of Laws, HBR, MM, Poly and Monarchy.
570bc - Muscat settled near the lake - workers irrigating and roading in the area.
Also - in 570bc - we roll over Edo and the first Japanese city falls. Others won't be far behind.
Another oh yes - built a galley earlier - and dropped a sword and a spear on the Japanese iron. Also moved our scout into the area. Disconnected the Japanese iron.
A number of units are mopping up Japanese warriors and barbarians to the east.
Also - 3 spears are guarding the straight to Carthage. Not taking any chances.
As of 550bc, now pushing through a number of temples to expand some borders and enable city growth.
Numerous units moving into or through Japan.
5 Arab workers, 7 cpatured workers
2 scouts
7 warriors
4 archers
12 spears
7 swords
2 chariots
15 horsemen
1 galley
14 cities
2 Luxuries connected
Pyramids

As an aside, it quite disorienting to pick up someone else’s save - even a good one. The thought process that goes behind each decision that came before feels pretty alien.
That said, submitted for your review and comment:
1225: Needed to reorganize the war to suit my play style more. I’m not a big fan of fighting with chariots so immediately sued for peace first turn with the full intent of attacking 20 turns later. America gives 22 gold and Seattle. Built a settler in Medina to place on the ruins of what was Atlanta, started building barracks in several cities. After discovering Map Making researched Horseback Riding.
1025: Researched Polytheism on the way to Monarchy. Traded Map Making to both Carthage and Japan. Built an embassy in Japan to bring the annoyance level down so I could attack America later without worrying about alliances and such other nasty business.
950 - 590: Washington completes the Pyramids. Good news as this is one of my favorite wonders. Began the process of building and amassing troops on America’s border.
590: Launched attack against Washington and Detroit. Destroyed Detroit easily. I slightly underestimated Washington’s defenses (in haste to take it before posting this save truthfully) but took it and the coveted Pyramids. It is secure but I am in process of bringing up defenses in the less than stellar form of Horseman.
___________
14 Cities: Mecca is ranked second behind Babylon.
Resource/Luxs: 2 Spice, 2 Horses, 1 Iron.
Total Culture: 306.
Score: Arabia 307, America 257 and Japan 251.
38 Total Units: 6 Workers – 3 Slaves, 1 Scout, 6 Warriors, 8 Horseman, 5 Archers, 5 Spearmen, 5 Swordsmen, 8 Horseman, most cities producing units.
Science: 11 turns to Monarchy running a –4 deficit
State of Diplomacy: Carthage is polite, Japan cautious, America is, of course, beside themselves.
-edited to add additional stat info.

So here's my third block. Never really waged war with chariots, so I'm in a bit of unfamiliar ground at the moment. Talking to the Americans, it looks like they're giving us 22 gold and Seattle to end the war, so I'm all over that. I'm thinking that I'm going to build up a force of horsemen and then unleash them on America. Hoping to do that after about 10 turns. I also want to continue taking territory while beating on Ol Abe, so I'm going to have Mecca continue on with the settlers.
Hmm..Toku has horseback already, but I'll hold off on trading for it. I will, however, trade him Masonry for 50 gold. Treasury is now at 103 gold and +7 per turn...should be a nice conversion nest egg.
Learned Map Making in 1175BC. Not really anymore war type techs necessary to warmonger with at this stage. So my next priority is getting out of this flea infested despotism. Polytheism in 16 turns.
Founded Aden in 1075BC. At this point, I've got 9 chariots and 145 gold in the bank. I can also trade map making to Carthage and Japan for additional funds. Might do that with Carthage, since they haven't contacted America and Japan yet. Not sure..
Alright...1000BC rolls around and I've got 11 chariots ready to upgrade to horsemen. I'm thinking that should be a good opening salvo on the Americans. Toku will fork over Horseback and his world map for map making. I know that this can let them contact the other continent first, but oh well...maybe I'll kill 'em fast enough Rather than give Carthage map making as well, I traded them Horseback riding for their world map and 100 gold. I now have 257 gold in the bank and can upgrade 11 chariots for 220 gold. Good to go
In the screenshot entitled "Operation Headless Horseman", that's what I'm planning. Have to get the horse to the front lines first though. Anticipated attack is 4 or so turns away.

Good timing! The Americans just finished the Pyramids (it's 950BC). The Babs built the Oracle as well. Hmm...stroke of luck if it works out. The Japs just switched from the Oracle to the Great Lighthouse. With any luck, they'll get it and we'll have a nice vet/elite horse army waiting to take it from them
So...900BC and the troops are at the front line. Operation Headless Horseman will now commence. The foot troops will head in first to ward off any...foolish gestures..
Sweet 900BC and the Japs just finished the Great Lighthouse.
In the first round of attacks, Philadelphia was destroyed, with a vet horseman being promoted to elite. Only needed 2 horse attacks to take the city. Next up is Washington. Dang..that's one of the lousiest rolls....out of 7 horse, none won. 4 retreated and 3 were destroyed. So now there are 3 spears guarding washington...1 of them elite. Dumb RNG. Time to regroup. Founded Yamama in 875BC down on the peninsula to the south.
Discovered Polytheism in 850BC. Next up is Monarchy in 19 Turns.
775BC and take 2 with Washington. 9 horsemen and 1 archer. Stupid RNG better cooperate... Grrr...3 spears dead, but I think there's still a sword and a spear protecting it.
Founded Muscat in 670BC.
Well...650BC and take 3 at Washington. Finally! Much fighting and many poundings of the computer monitor/keyboard later, Washington becomes an Arab stronghold. Had a few elite wins, but no leaders yet.
570BC and New York has also now fallen. Americans are left with only Chicago. Peace treaty with Abe gets Code of Laws, 2 gold and his world map. Swing a straight up trade with Toku...CoL for Mathematics and then sell Math to Carthage for 82 gold and his world map.
Summary:
16 cities.
Monarchy in 4 turns while gaining 3 gpt.
Philosopy, Currency and Construction left until the next age. Literature and Republic are also unknown.
America is long gone and we're in a decent position to make a run at Japan before Samurai start appearing.
15 workers (some slaves).
10 warriors, 3 archers, 7 spearmen, 1 swordsman, 13 horsemen.
Pyramids captured from America. 2 barracks.
Next turn, Washington and New York will be hooked up to the main core cities, bringing a second luxury (furs) to the homeland.

Ok, being that I'm a bit past the deadline (hopefully the very nice, hardworking, kind, and loving AU Deans won't mind ) but I had stuff to do.
So, here's the summary:
Basically I spent the first few turns straightening up some things (Kon, why no second granary!?!?!) and getting up some Temples. I also decided to re-calibrate Mecca's building to the settler/spear combo per 7 turns which was working quite nice.
Bonked like 2 US warriors and then decided the war was going nowhere (too few units) so I asked for peace and got a crappy city which I promptly razed. Since Washington was now at size 7 I said, hmm... with horsemen it's going to be hard. Plus, I still don't want to get HBR yet. Let's see, I have money, and I'm cranking out a lot, oh well, SWORDSMAN ATTACK!! (I can hear Theseus cringing at this moment). So, I pillage the road from the iron city and begin to build warriors like there's no tomorrow, finally have a nice big swordsman army and send them to the border with the Americans, old regular swords and all the remaining vet archers are also there.
Then guess what? A settler group pops up! MUAHAHAHA!!! DIEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! Bop, two slaves for our growing empire and a reg sword is now vet. My attack is focused on two axis: One small stack: 4 archers + 1 reg sword are going after Miami, then Philadelphia. The Big Stack of Doom™ however, is headed straight for Washington which coincidentally built the Pyramids (and a Japanese city built the Colossus).
Order of Battle:
Army Group West: 3 vet archers, 1 reg archer, 1 reg sword (towards Miami)
Army Group Center: 8 vet swordsmen (1 has only 2 HP) (towards Washington
Eastern Detachment: 1 reg, 1 vet Swordsman (towards size-1 Houston)
sounds nice? that's not the WHOLE army, after the warriors being built, as well as getting Temples and Barracks in more cities, I began cranking chariots like mad. Here's a total summary of our forces:
Army of the Caliph Abu Bakr messenger of Allah on Earth (52 Jihad Units)
4 - Warriors
6 - Archers
6 - Spearmen
11 - Swordsmen
16 - Chariots (with an average of slightly over 1 per turn being produced!!!)
At this rate, in the next block we'll have 36 chariots... and we can even divert other cities to producing warriors for more swordsmen if necessary.
Improvements
2 - Granaries (moot now that the Pyramids will be in our hands)
6 - Temples
5 - Barracks
Cities: 15
RCP: 4 distances (2,4,7,8)
Finally I have the biggest reason why you have to choose my save:
MY WAR HAS ONLY BEGUN! YOU NOW HAVE THE CHANCE TO KICK LINCOLN'S ASS.... AGAIN (IF YOU ALREADY DID SO!). AND WITH 16 CHARIOTS ON HOLD, AND 1 BEING BUILT PER TURN SOMEONE IS GOING TO RECEIVE A MAJOR BUTT-WHOOPING IN THE END!
(and my cities are nicely placed too )
Ok, anything else I need to say?
-MZ

The state of the empire: you can see closely the 4 cities that will finish a chariot in 4 turns (and a 5th city which will finish one in 5)
