1725BC:
Roxane, our capital, started with a granary after the mandatory 2 curraghs. By now, we already met Carthage, Scandinavia, the Hittites and Portugal. Thanks to extensive trading, we have now Alphabet, Pottery, Writing and WC. Philosophy in 19 turns and 338 gold in our National Bank. Roxane goes on a warrior (later spearman) / settler combo, thus the barracks. However, we are ranked last…

Some more clever trading brought us more techs. Philosophy gave us Map Making. We preferred it instead of Republic (which we will get later on anyway). On an archipelago, discovering the other civs is our top priority.
We have now 377 gold, Literature in 27 turns at 80%.

10BC:
A great leap ahead. The Vikings declared war, and are losing it, also thanks to our tight city spacing (C-T-T-C). We just entered the Second Age, Portugal and Babylon have Feudalism. We are researching Engineering in 7 turns at 80%, 246 gold (-19/turn).

210AD: (no screenshots).
The war ended in 210AD with the FP in Oslo (thanks to our 1st GL). We have now Monotheism, Engineering and Feudalism, 1084 gold (-1/turn). Invention in 15 turns at 80%.
400AD: (no screenshots).
We have now Chivalry and Invention, 1351 gold (-39/turn) and Theology in 3 turns. Still no GW…
510AD: (no screenshots).
The Aztecs declared war on us and landed 2 Horses (!). Leo in 12 turns. Our rexxing is finally over… 1275 gold (-15/turn), Education in 12 turns, to be exchanged for Gunpowder. We are going for the ‘north branch’: Smith and Democracy…
690AD: (no screenshots).
Sistine in 4 turns and Smith in 31. Our only 2 GW, but worthy ones…
Astronomy and Metallurgy will be traded for Democracy in 9 turns. 2138 gold (+37/turn) and research at 80%.
920AD: (no screenshots).
Theory of Gravity and the next Age in 6 turns now, 5038 gold (+138/turn) thanks to the trading od Economics and Democracy (+246 from other civs).
1255AD: (no screenshots).
The time of factories. We have Nationalism, Steam Power, Industrialization, Medecine and Electricity. ToE and Hoover are just over the horizon (SM in 7 turns). 8495 gold (+135/turn). Our military is still the same as in 10BC, it’s time to upgrade it a bit…

We decided to lower our research rate and make more citizens happy. After all, they deserved it. Our military is now 11 infantry, 5 destroyers, but growing fast, as there is nothing else to build in most cities.

Willy could have won diplomatically. Time for some alternate history.
With 47’000+ gold we can afford to research at –135/turn.

The Space race we could have won. Unfortunately, Willy decided he wanted all of this Earth before, so now we are set for CD (Complete Domination).
