Nothing to think about while I wait...
The box normally containing the oh-so-clever-and-pithy bits of wit has been blank of late. (Since the maintenance to the database Sunday night??)
Now I know what I've long suspected -- that I have a lot to think about, and it's much easier to do when I'm not reading a bunch of stupid old Star Trek quotes!
If this "feature" is considered broken, DON'T FIX IT!!

Maybe all the Star Trek ones were removed, but the database size kept the same. Proportionally you should still get a quote about once a week.

I hope they fix it so it still shows quotes - just not star trek ones.

When I saw no quote under "Here's something to think about", I thought it was a subtle hint about the thinking abilities of 'Poly posters (or lack thereof?).

I must also since I haven't noticed there was a problem.
Or it's the lightening quick connection.

How much can a quote slow down the server?
btw, the whole 'misspelling' doesn't irk me so much as when a newbie spells it 'Theban'. Over the years at least a dozen n00bs have done it! How do they keep hitting the frickin' 'A' key? WTF!?!

I'm guilty of "pausing" the real long ones. How are you supposed to read AND think about those paragraphs when they appear and disappear in three seconds?

I pause the long ones.
I even saved a few that I liked.
Theben:
It's like vovansim, it is more common in English to see 'ism' rather than 'sim'. In your case, when I hear your name, I hear 'Theban', so I have to check myself to correct the name.
Or we could all call you Thubbins, and avoid the problem altogether.

Hey, don't limit yourself. Monk called me Flafnir once, and I really don't get where THAT came from.
He started the whole trend too, the nordic bastard.
