Same goes for me too, but I can spend smaller segments of time on Apolyton whereas Civ takes large contiguous chunks of my time.

I'm not addicted, I can stop anytime after the next turn.....

I'm catching the bug too. Apolyton rocks! I'm checking it routinely these days.

BTW, the new avatar is great, skywalker!!!

Thanks

Interestingly, I've never really gotten all that addicted to Civ. I end up getting bored with MM, and my more enjoyable games are on the lower levels where I just build and build and build until I have an uber-army and just nuke the world. I much more enjoy talking about civ

Poly is like crack. You start with a bit of it, gradually discover all the quirks associated with it, and next thing you know, you are possesed by the need for more, more, MORE, and you can't stop yourself, it goes deeper into your psyche, an avalanche of gusto and froth, until it leaves you alone, naked in a refridgerator. You try to quit, but it draws you back, like a cheap whore with bad fillings, never relenting, never ending.
Yes, my friends, Apolyton, like crack, is addicting.
But hey, it could be worse.

I'm afraid to say I am currently going through that now. At least I can keep up with Apolyton at work.

Vince and badams52... I have gone through that in the past. Fortunately, I was able to impress upon my wife how important Civilization/Apolyton are ..... It seems this is a common theme.

I hope it works out.

True, but I thought that only applied to other people.

I might be an exception, but in my family, my wife was the one who first played the Civ saga, then I joined in, and recently, my sister...
... I wasn't surprised

Apolyton is, in fact, a big vice. The only thing that keeps me away from it is the fact the my work is so consuming and does not involve computers linked to Internet (I chose the wrong work ). So Apolyton is a big healthy pleasure to me, small moments of glory in my turbulent weeks.

A vice that has helped reform my play, and because of my bizarre way of living, then spilt into better strategy formation then into clearer thinking

Poly can't be a vice, unless it's one to jam that nasty AI in then crank up the tightness

So I'm twisted. So what?

I know a few of them too. Actually a couple are regular posters of the Spanish forum.

Welcome to Poly Girl!

I actually *gave* Civ3 to my girlfriend (since after getting Play the World I didn't need the CD to run it), in the hope that it would take root. It was probably just as well that it didn't, or we would never see each other at all.

Thx Chilean President.

My SO and I used to have Civ II marathons that lasted for days at a time. Somehow Civ III put an end to those, but we both still play religiously - that's why we needed his and hers computers

What's SO?

I showed Civ2 to a couple of female friends and like it, but didn't get it a lot. With Civ3 they became civ-addict, specially to the multiplayer feature of PtW.
