2194 Days of War PBEM Epic
OK guys, let's get this started as soon as we can, please post your country and your e-mail address so everyone knows who to send the game to.
1. Japanese----Henrik
2. Germans-----Cal
3. Americans---Pap------------pap1723@aol.com
4. British-----CPoulos
5. Chinese-----ShakaNuldur
6. Soviets-----JMarks
Review of PBEM how to play by cpoulos:
First off, everyone must have MGE, with the last patch, to avoid problems. I understand that there is a new patch that turns the original civ-2 into Multi-player, but I don't know if it has any bugs. It, and the last MGE patch, can be found at civfanatics. Next thing, the scenario to be played, 2194 days of war, is availible from the scenario league downloads, as well as CSC, both hosted sites that can be reached through the links at the bottom of the forum summary page. Next, the way the game is played is this: The game is started as a multi-player net game. The host and IP are not important, and can be ignored. The first player starts the scenario (I believe it is the Soviets in this scenario), and selects the difficulty level (Prince is best for PBEM), the production level (normal), and makes sure the join players option is toggled. Then the player plays there turn, but make sure you have 'display the end of player turn' option on. When you have moved your last piece, you must press ctrl n, then go to the area where you normally save your game. You will see a new option there, the 'password' option. Make up a password for your civ (But don't forget it, or you can never access your civ again!), then save the game. Then you turn off civ-2, and e-mail the save to the next player on the turn list (which is the order the civs are listed in the selection area). Each player follows the same proceedure, including the unique password. Some other things: Play your turn as soon as possible! It is bad manners to make everybody wait for a slow-poke! If you can't play your turn, tell us, if possible. With this system, it is possible to skip players over, as the AI will move for the absent player for the missing turn. If your not serious about these things, don't waste our time. Remember also, that this is a game, and is ment to be fun, so have a good time doing it.

CPoulos, ShakaNuldur, and JMarks, send me an e-mail so we can plan some strategy to rid the rule of the Imperialist Japanese and bastard fascist Germans.
I think the key for us is determining what to research and what cities we need to defend heavily, while others we can trade for time.

One more thing:
Which event file and rules file should be used?

In the 1st renditions of this PBEM we used the Allied rules.txt. The Axis have a good advantage at the start, so all the event-generated units should go to the Allies.

We could also create new multiplayer rules and events.
In which case nobody would get any advantages that isnt existing when they are played normaly (I could do this and then send the file to all players).

I´ve taken a look to the scn...
do the allies have a chance to win??
I know that the last pbem games were won by the Axis but I think that in both games Xin YU and FMK played as the Axis, so what could happen the other way around??
let´s win the war guys

Hey guys, we are only missing one guy right now, but hopefully he'll be around soon.
I think we should rewrite the multiplayer events file.
I already started it, but I am thinking of including a few things...
1000 for capturing capital cities.
Paris, Berlin, Peking(already Japanese), Tokyo, Washington D.C., London, Moscow...
Did I miss any?
Also, when certain cities with wonders are taken, we can have an event that triggers either money, technology, units or another similar thing like this.
Anyone have any other ideas that should be included??

You should include Cairo... and maybe whatever city was capital of India at that time.

And the rules file!
As of now there is one favoring the Axis and one favoring the allies, create something in between.

I think you guys should keep the Stalingrad citytaken event as is. The Soviet wouldn't have a chance without a few IL-2's to zip around in. And it did work last time we played, don't recall some of the other citytaken events though...

Tell me if theres something wrong with this idea, but couldn't each person use the events for his own country? That way we get 5 times the events! Of course one general event file would be preferable, but I'm not doing it up.

The events are stored in the save file after the scenario has been launched initially.
what we do need is a rules.txt that will reflect that no ais are participating in the game.

So who's doing the editing? How is it going? You might ask Nemo for any pointers, he obviosly knows the thing inside out. I wanna see how this pans out....GET GOING!!!!

Pap said that he would be doing it, asking Nemo is probably a good idea though he would be the best person to make events for his own scenario

Guys, please get this matter of events files ironed out right away. Since the allies are at a disadvantage in this scenario, I suggest that the allied events be used. Writing a new events file means it needs to be tested and debugged, and that takes time. It is already half a week since we agreed on sides, so how about getting started? Asking Nemo to write a Multi-player events file to suit us is is not fair to him, as I'm sure he has his own projects to work on. So, like Ike said at Normandy, Let's go!

OK guys, I was doing some of the editing, but after looking through it, I could not find a good balance to use.
So, we will use the German or Japanese rules and events files to play the game since the Allies are at a severe disadvantadge.
Henrik, you are the Japanese, so please, start the game as soon as you can so we can get this thing underway.
Cal is second, so please send it to him when you are done. Post when you send it. Also, post here to add any thing you might want about your conquests in your turn.

I think the two players next to each other in order should log on at the same time to pass the file. This way the second player can modify his production before his turn to prevent from AI mess-up.

There is only one problem whit that I'm afraid, since I am firewalled I can't host a game for other players (I can join and I can host a pbem when it is only me playing).

Emperor Hiro Henrik of the Japaneese is proud to report that during the month of December 1941 all of the American pacific fleet was destroyed in pearl Harbour!
Our armies have advanced on all fronts, two thirds of China is now in Japanese hands and our mighty armies will have conquered all of it in a matter of months.
In indonesia things are going our way whit the sinking of two major brittish battleships as well as the brittish fleet in the indian ocean we could invade and occupy all of the islands in the archipilague a small invassion into Australia has also been undertaken.
We assure the soviets that none of thier troops has been harmed and that there is still a state of armed cease fire between our nations.
Hiro Henrik
Oh and I am using japanese events and rules.
