although can someone explain to me why there are so many non-iraqis getting all emotional about this?
on a radio show i was listening to, there was a woman caller who started crying and saying this was the proudest she's ever been of our country...
which mystifies me. surely there are other things that we could be proud about here ?

Is that all you can contribute.
Anyway, It's good that he is captured. I hope Iraq gets to try him. Somehow it sickens me to see anyone claim that the US or Europe or some "international" body is more capable than the people he brutalized.

I don't think you could fit much of a parade on Wall Street. We usually do them on 5th Avenue...

I think the best solution would to be put him in a locked room with 100 relatives of people he has killed, give the relatives knives, and let them have fun.

Again, let me remind some of the geniuses here...
The left wanted to get Saddam, just as much as anyone else.
What did you think, that he was our hero? A dictator helped by evil USA, evil USSR and Mitterands corrupt adminstration? I dont think so.
In fact, this is very good news. Only the medical examiation video was against the rules of war, otherwise BIG thumbs up!
And I think he should be tried in the Hague. Afterall it wasnt just iraqis he committed atrocities against.

I'm glad he has been captured. However, the real fun begins with a trial. SH has all sorts of western 'dirty laundry' he can air.
How 'fair' will the trial be?

Yeah I know Sloww.
It is true that we in the west (not a US bash) have blood on our hands too. Co-defendants maybe?
For this reason I was surprised he was taken alive ("he tried to resist - honest!")
End result will be a conviction for SH, but will there be some embarrassed gov's around the world?

This is great news. I look forward to seeing the Iraqi people bring justice to this monster.

I'm not going to celebrate this when he was killing millions of kurds with the support of those who now captured him.
no sireeee
good thing he's gone of course now some others need to follow in his footsteps.
I have visions of the US being sadistically bombarded the liberators entering the white house and checking the teeth of an unshaved bush.

don't you kind of feel sorry for Saddam Hussein? No I'm not trolling. He just looks so sad in that picture. Once the leader of one of the world's largest armies, and now reduced to hiding in a pit accross from one of his former palaces.

At the time of Gulf War I, Iraq had the 4th or 5th largest army in the world.
And no, I can't say I feel sorry for him. Just think of the terror he caused so many--he's due now.

I think his sons were the cause of most of that terror. And the people Saddam appointed- like chemical ali.
