The Iron Chef: Any fans here?
http://www.ironfans.com/
It's a bit of a cult classic from Japan.
2 chefs in a one hour cook off with a theme ingredient in a samurai themed arena and atmosphere - and dubbed from Japanese.
What more could you ask for? Mrs Horse and I are total addicts.

I didnt really like it. They were going too fast to really drool over how good it looked, besides I like watching the cooking shows where theres a slight chance that you can make it in your own kitchen.
diss is just jealous that he doesnt enjoy food, maybe thats why he cant get laid?

I LOVE this show.
Did you see the episode where the Chinese and Japanese Iron Chefs must work together to beat the Frogs?
Where is the Korean Iron Chef? Someone must step forward.

Me, my roomate, my gf, my sis...
other than that I dont know anyone else who actually likes this show. Sure I know alot of people who like to watch it for comical value, which is nice too, but its actually a pretty good cooking show on its own.

Great show. I love when they use Octopi.
I hate, hate when they cook using turtles. Reminds me of some past pets

I saw one episode, it was funny when the Iron Chef in question dropped an eggplant into boiling oil and it exploded all over the place.

I'm still getting my head around the idea of Japanese-French cuisine. I often wonder if it tastes anything like French food.

I love that show, but the drinking game is brutal. Quisan! Anyone seen the import with William Shatner (Capt. Kirk) as the host?

My favorite episode was the one where the challenger declined the use of assistants, so Sakai sent his assistants away as well. It was incredible, to see them go one-on-one!

When they chose cabbage as the theme ingredient it must have been time to break out the gas masks in the studio.

many funny comments in these posts..
Yes, my wife and i watch this show. It's highly entertaining. I like the interplay between the hosts and chefs. Sometimes the chefs seem to show some irritation with the hosts. Then again, if you are trying produce world class cuisine, from scratch, under a time pressure and some goofball shoves the microphone in your face, you might arch an eyebrow or two...
Great show.

Iron Chef is a fantastic programme, I only regret that I don't get to catch it all that often.
Still, when I do, I'm in heaven.
Sakai is obviously the best. I really want to see the one where he doesn't use any servants now, after reading this thread.
Long Live Iron Chef!

Saw the entire series.
It played at 1 am local time, but well worth staying up for. The snow crab battle was one of my favorites. I felt the noodle battle was a bit of a cop out as both chefs used pre-made noodles.

I've seen this show... it's quite ridiculous some times... especially when the judges discuss about the food being prepared.
But the food they are making looks (almost allways) very delicious...
Funny program that is
