Where are you now? Are you still in Japan? For some reason, Japan didn't seem to get into the films as much as ROW.

Yeah, the Japanese just aren't that into it, which sucks for me. Kill Bill, Matrix Revolutions, Last Samurai, etc. all came out here at the same time as in America, but I'm going to have to wait until February to see the movie I'm really dying to see.
The fact that my friends are going to see it over the break in Australia makes it even worse...

I'm looking forward to it, but I've grown displeased with the mangling of Aragorn. In the books he's not this weak-willed ****er who finally gets some lead in his pencil, but a full-force Dunadan kick ass machine.
As for Arwen. Ugh!
Bring back Glorfindel.

dammit, i could have swore it started on Tuesday according to my local movie theatre schedule. because of work I won't be able to see it until next week.
I like the movies, but I won't say they are the most important thing in my life. There are things I don't like about them. I'd rather they be rated R and show blood. And the story really isn't all that hot (I have never read the books). But I do love all the characters and races of course. I'm looking forward to the final installment.

One other thing I hate is I can't understand some of the names. If they don't speak them clearly, I can't understand any of the names.
Can anyone help me out?
I'm guessing the black haired elf chick is Liv Tyler. It's been a while since I seen the first one, but I don't remember them falling in love with Aragorn.
What about the blond chick who was with the King? Why is she in love with Aragorn? And if she is in love with Aragorn- will there be a threeway at the end of Return of the King?
And what is the King's name?
And what is the Dwarf's name?
I know legolas. One of the few names I picked up along with Aragorn.
and who is Solomon? Is he the enemy wizard?
And where did Gandolf go during the battle on Helm's deep.
And how exactly did they win the battle of helm's deep. Who were those other people that showed up. not the elves, but the people on horseback. I was dismayed all those horses charged right into pikes and were not decimated. *sigh*

I'm not exactly a LOTR expert, but the dwarf's name is Gimli and there is no Solomon, but Saruman, and he is the evil wizard. During the battle on Helm's Deep Gandalf was gone to forge an alliance. The reinforcements he brought, decided the battle. Meanwhile the Ents shredded Isengart.

Yes Liv Tyler plays Arwen and did have some sort of love scene with Aragorn in the first one. You know, where she give him the elf pendant thing.

Eowyn, the daughter of the King of the Rohirrim. She like Aragorn because he is a fetching fellow. And no, no three way.

Saruman is A enemy wizard. He is/was allied with the BIG baddy, Sauron.

The Rohirrim.
And I agree with you. The battle scenes were kinda . I mean, I could see it if there were less orcs and baddies. And the battle at the end of the 1st movie was utterly ridiculous.
And the books are VERY overrated (good, but nothing too special), as are the movies (FOTR was good, but TTT sucked).

I liked most of the TTT. A bit slow in the beginning. But it finished up nicely. I found the gollum moments humorous, I'm not sure if they were intended to be that way. But I also enjoyed the character development- I find myself rooting for this character (the good side of him at least)
But the last one looks to be the best.

Maybe I was just spoiled by the books. TTT was my favorite of the books, but I liked FOTR infinetly more.

ahh, so it was Gandolf that brought those reinforcements then. I missed that.
I still need to learn all the location names as well . Maybe I should just read the books.
I do know the Men locations names I beleive. And the bad guys location name. Did I hear 2 names for elf locations? I thought I heard Rivendale and one other.

Unless you have the time and patience to read 1000+ pages (and from what I've seen on these forums, you don't ), don't bother.

Yes... and that is the paperback version with small type. Though I guess it is shorter than all 5 Harry Potter books combined .

I have read books like Red Storm Rising, and Stephen King's The stand. I have also read Stephen King's Dark Tower series. That is 4 books... I think. He may have made another- I should check on that .

Well, the Lord of the Rings reads more like a medieval adventure. If you are interested in that sort of stuff, go ahead. But parts of it can get REAL boring. If you can get past Fellowship of the Ring (PAINFUL) then you'll be ok.
