Why in God's name do these buildings have to have such a long and useless spire on top?!

I think the movie has something to do with... something about dramatic sequences they can film around...

I still prefer the big Cross with the Mecha-Jesus that could be used to swat down annoying hijacked airplanes.
Can't have everything I guess.

Sheesh, don't you guys know all brand new NYC skyscrappers have to be Giant Simian proof?

Oh God, what the **** have they done to NYC's skyline!?
(i don't like it)
GePap pointed out that it looks rather isolated. It might be a beautiful building on its own (to some few people somewhere) but I fail to see how it "fits" with the surrounding skyline at all. Maybe I'm just not an arteest.

The Trade Towers were very masculine. This is a somewhat feminine building.

Am I the only who thinks it looks like an abstract (cubistic(?)) statue of liberty?

Well, to be serious for a moment, those are TV transmission towers.

That first "rendering" is one of the most akward looking scenes I've ever seen used in the proffession. The main spire tower looks decent, but would someone please slam a few (robotic) passenger airlines into those nasty little (unoccupied) quartz growths behind it?

For perspective, the current skyline (as shot from a supermarket parking lot in Bayonne, New Jersey); the Empire State Building is far left, and you can make out the Statue of Liberty on the far right:

The tower's height of 1,776 feet, symbolic for the year of American independence, includes a 276-foot spire.
In addition, a broadcast antenna attached to the tower is to bring the structure's total height above 2,000 feet.

I don't like the name "Freedom Tower". Too banal. Besides, an association with "freedom fries" immediately comes to mind.

Count me among the teeming millions who can't stand the stupid name. Gotta be a cold, sick joke to call an office building "freedom" anything.

Hurhur, clever.
I'll call it the Bin Laden Building before I go around spouting coerced jingoism like "Freedom Tower."

Maybe we'll just reverse our terms as many did this past summer and call it the "French Tower."
