Pop-up function for attachments
Sorry, there's probably already been a thread for this but I couldn't find it. Whenever I try to download an attachment, I get the url for a pop-up ad in my browser, but no pop-up ad (and therefore no link to the attachment). I thought it'd go away for a while but it hasn't, and it's holding up half a dozen PBEM's... is this happening to anyone else? Is there anything I can do with my settings to fix it, or can someone recommend another browser I can download for free to avoid this?

Any link you can give us to test this problem out?

My bad, I actually meant to do that. Here are all the games held up by the problem:
Mongols
Raging Dragon
De Historibus Europae
Age of War
Age of War #2
Gigamap 2194 Days of War
It hasn't seemed to happen to anyone else so I don't know if you can see what the problem is, but here's a shrunk screenshot of what I get:

Works in Mozilla (after removing the www. from the front of the address. It is just apolyton.net)

And in IE. Perhaps the problem is related to you using http://www.apolyton.net rather than the standard http://apolyton.net

Nah, there's not a www in the url I get. I tried removing www from the thread I downloaded from just in case, but no dice.
Here's the exact url I end up with FYI:
edit: ok, for some reason when I copy and paste it to this post, nothing appears on the post. There has to be a higher power at work here.

I get a 'page cannot be displayed' (I get quite a few of these), but the download still works.
IE6
XP

Darius, another solution, easier than email for my taste is:
1) The player who post the file you want to dowlonad tries to dowloand his/her owns file.
2) He press over the "Skip" link with Rigth button
3) He select Copy Direct Link (or whatever the name of the option in English it is!)
4) He post that link (that gives you directly the file, without the ads) in the thread.
See my example in the Historibus PBEM

When you post the link, use the post reply button (as opposed to the quick-reply feature). Underneath the text box you type in there is a checkbox that "Automatically parse[s] URLs". Uncheck that.
Unfortunately the problem appears to be on your end, and we will need to know exactly what your browser is doing and where it is breaking down.

It's most likely a adblocking system, or browsersetting that breaks it.

Please check if you have this version of Internet Explorer: 6.00.2800.1106
If this is the number, try updating the version.

Yep. All I can offer is the URL I get, and a screenshot of how my browser ends up.

maybe it has to do with ad blocking software that you have on your comp, like Norton Internet Security? I have the same problem and I'm going to see if that is the case.

Like I said, I don't have an ad-blocker (that is to say, it's deactivated).

Well, I do remember that some previous version of a famous firewall (zonealarm) kept blocking/popping up even after it was uninstalled, this could be similar
