I don't see the Americans in there; I would assume that one of those Portugals is you. I'm sure you can see how the two nations could get confused.

Well, I'm guessing that you're playing the Americans (given the picture of your capital in the screen shot) - So I would have to say that you either place 1st or 2nd for population....but it still doesn't explain why the computer is calling the American civilization the Portuguese...Unless you changed the name of your civilzation from the Americans to the Portuguese!

No, I really didn't. I'm playing a Large map with the maximum number of civs. It has to be some type of bug.
I attached the save if anyone is interested.... Please don't tell me my strategy sucks...I already know that!

Hmm... A little off topic, but I wonder if it's possible to give ALL civs the exact same name?

Funny post
I have had some funny names for leaders....
General WhoFlungDoo for the Chinese
7-11 for the Indians
Jerry Lewis for the French
Montazuma's Revenge for the Mayans
Otto of the Ottomans
Huge Election for the Japanese (say with japanese accent making l's into r's.
There have been others...can't remember them all now. And sometimes the creativity well runs dry and the leader name becomes the underwhelming, not-so-interesting, lackluster "Michael Nelson".
sigh

Ouch! I better pay someone to tutor me before we meet in the PBEM game or the multiplayer tourneys!

I'm not Portugal, I'm Pathetic
Well, I've gotten a little farther in this game and I'm not one of the two civs listed as Portugal.

Isn't there a chance of repeats if you set the civ selection to random?

I doubt that.
EDIT: though what would happen if you removed eight civs from the editor, but played with the full 31 civs?

Well you weren't on the top ten to begin with because you just weren't good enough. It certainly looks like you have a duplicated Portuguese...see if you bump into them in the course of the game...

It looks like you're using a terrain mod. Is it one specifically designed for C3C?
I'm asking, cause when I used the PtW version of Warpstorm's watercolour mod in C3C, I got 2 Sumerians in one of my games. I don't know if that had anything to do with it, just speculating really, but maybe something goes wrong when you're using pre-C3C mods and have C3C civs in the game?

I'm using Sn00py's bright color terrain mod. Thanks for posting, if other people have experienced a duplication in civs from mods then I shouldn't post this in the bug list. Thanks Stormboy.

Maybe the Portuguese are really that great. So great that they take up the top two slots by themselves?

I killed the game...
I was getting confused to "which" portugal I was dealing with. The both even had the same colors!
When I exited and started again, I ran the same game settings (Sn00py's mod again) and this time selected the civs I wanted to play. None of the civs that came with C3C were available. That's probably the clue...that mod was done pre C3C.
